Hello!

Make sure that the disc you use is compatible in your DVD writer, there some cases that the errors cause by the source of file being writed.

Please see also the documentation of your DVD writer.

If this not the source of the errors then maybe you should uninstall and reinstall bak the application program that you use in writing the disc., You should restart the system after uninstalling the application.

may this help.

Please try your dvd burner to another system to see if it working. if work in there then the system is maybe corrupted. did your try another source of the file to be burn. thats another symptom of the burner errors when the source file cannot be read directly.

Generally, defragmenting your hard disk will resolve this issue. To defragment your computer:

  1. Go to Start--> Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> Disk Defragmenter.
  2. When the Disk Defragmenter window opens, choose Defragment.

If defragmentation doesn't resolve the issue, burn your project as a data file, and then burn your project as a data disc using Disc Copier or Creator Classic. To create a disc image/data file:

  1. After clicking the Burn button, the Burn Project window opens.
  2. You have two data burning options:
    • Image file - this option will save your project as an .ISO file. To burn this file you will need to use the Burn Image option in Creator's Copy section.
    • Folder Set - burning a folder set will create a Video_TS folder that you can burn using Creator Classic. Burning a folder set to DVD will create a fully functional DVD. Do NOT rename the Video_TS folder other wise it will not play! Simply place it in a folder that is the name of your project if you need to keep track.

Tip: Either of the above options are a great way to not only back up your projects, but make multiple copies to reduce encoding time!

Replys no disc while operating

- Disc is not burned in the ISO 9660 Joliet format.
- The movie encoded using some incompatible DivX settings. Philips DVD players does not play movies encoded in 720p or 1080p HD format.
- There should be some dust accumulated over the laser pickup. Use a CD lens cleaner.
- Rarely, the transport mechanism could be facing some fault moving the laser head to-fro. This requires opening the box and taking a peek inside.

My guess is the Pinnacle software isn't writing correctly. Read this from the Pinnacle support site.

Use this FAQ to troubleshoot any problems where Studio is failing during the process of burning the DVD.

  1. INSTALL THE LASTEST PATCH:

If you have Studio version 12, download the latest version here.

If you have Studio version 11, download the latest version here.

Note: Studio 11 patches will only patch a previous install of Studio 11.

If you have an older version of Studio (Studio 9, 10, or 11 etc), it is advised for you to update to the current Studio software. The current version is Studio 12. Click Here to go to the Studio 12 Upgrade page.

How to download and install a patch:

  • When downloading the patch make a note of where it is being saved to. We recommend saving the patch to the desktop.
  • Before installing the patch, make sure that you do not have any other programs running. Studio must not be running.
  • Once it is fully downloaded, double-click on the patch to begin the installation.
  • Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the installation. Reboot the computer after applying the patch.

  1. MAKE DISC SETTING, SAFE MODE BURN OPTION: In Studio, click on Setup -> Make Disc. Under the box marked Burn Options, select "Safe Mode: create disc content and then burn" by clicking on the radio button in front of the setting and then click OK. While troubleshooting this problem, always use this setting.

  1. RESTART STUDIO: Shut down Studio, then relaunch it. Try to create the DVD again using the safe mode setting above.

  1. RESTART THE COMPUTER: Try opening the door of the DVD burner. If it won't open, then shut down Studio, then restart the computer. Launch Studio and try to create the DVD again using the safe mode setting.

  1. MEDIA:

BLANK MEDIA IN THE DRIVE: Make sure that there is a blank, write-once media or rewriteable media in the DVD burner.

TYPE OF DVD: Make sure that your DVD burner supports the media you use. As for any problem with burning a DVD, we recommend customer use rewriteable media to reduce the number of wasted DVDs when they have to troubleshoot a failure while burning DVDs. In this case, if you have only used rewriteable media, (RW) we would also recommend trying to use a write once (-/+ R) DVD and erasing the RW media.

BRAND OF DVD: Pinnacle recommends using a name brand of DVD, i.e. Sony, Apple, Memorex, etc. Also we recommend trying a DVD from a different manufacturer to see if the problem is related to the brand of DVD that is being used.

NOTE: Check with the following site to find information on the media being used.

http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia

  1. LOWER THE WRITE SPEED: In the Make Disc settings try lowering the Write Speed to the lowest possible setting.

  1. GET THE LATEST FIRMWARE: Ensure that the DVD burner being used has the latest firmware update from the burner manufacturer.

  1. CHECK DISC SPEED: Make sure that the disc media speed (printed on the media or on the media box) is compatible with the DVD burner. Some burners may not work with media that has a higher maximum supported burn speed. For example, if the burner being used supports 4x disc media, do not use 16x disc media.

  1. DELETE AUXILIARY FILES: Try deleting the Auxiliary Files for the current project. To do this, go to File -> Delete Auxiliary Files and select "Delete auxiliary files for current project." Press OK and try to re-render and burn the project.

  1. ALWAYS RE-ENCODE: Go to the Make Disc settings and check the box called "Always re-encode entire movie".

  1. SAFE MODE: Try burning with the safe mode option selected. To do this, go to the Make Disc settings. In the Burn options are select the option called: "Safe mode: create disc content and then burn.". This step does not apply if you are using Studio 12 since this is the default burn method.

  1. CREATE A DISC IMAGE: In Studio, click on Setup -> Make Disc. Under the box marked Burn Options, select "Create disc content but don't burn" by clicking on the radio button in front of the setting and then click OK. Then click the Create disc button in the Make Movie section to begin the image creation process.

If the image is not created, it is likely that the problem is a Render problem rather than a burn problem. Click Here to see the FAQ on Render problems.

If the disc image file is created successfully, burn the disc from the new disc image by selecting "Burn from previously created disc content" in Burn Options.

NOTE: When troubleshooting all burn or playback issues, it is recommended to use rewritable media to avoid wasting discs.

Attempted to burn a DVD

The lens for reader is a common issue and causes those errors. Get inside the box, take off the two screws on the DVD drive cover and (delicately) remove dust from the lens and surroundings. You should use delicate brushes and air blast, but I got some soft tissue and gently wiped.

I hope this helps

Mysterious "ring" on burned DVD causes playback to freeze.

Is the image preponderantly encoded in PAL? Majority PAL and some NTSC? Or fully NTSC? Used transcoding presets? Transcoded project before you built to DVD? Note: Always run "TEST" before burning (to save plastic trees)? Determined whether system or project is faulty? Tested the DVD drive? Tried burning using another application? Closed all background-running resource hogs and applications? Did the project size increase the capacity size of the disk? Used a lower write speed? Disabled startup items and services? DMA: enabled? Updated Windows? Media compatibility? System requirements attained? Updated your application? Solved the issue(s); then write it down and share it with others. Still having issues? Revert back to the computer's factory settings and rebuild, upgrade, or invest in a high-end system and buy the full version of Nero 9, with all the plug-in features....and so forth. If time is money, the latter solution is your best bet. If money is an issue, then it requires trench warfare - that is, much research, deductive reasoning and time investment to isolate your specific problem...start by analyzing your source, and then your target...cause/effect relationship...you'll conquer all problems, eventually...political machinations aside.
