Go into the closed caption portion of your menu and put it in the off mode . Your text 1-2-3-4 mode is on . This should get your screen back to normal . Good luck

Where is the IR on a Symphonic TV?

You are asking about the infrared sensor position, I assumes, and posts this solution. The infrared sensor can be located just behind the infrared sensor window at the front panel of the TV. You have to open the TV and take out the front panel control board out to access it. It is a three terminal component, can be bought from most of the electronic spare part shops at your town, and won't cost more. It will look like this.

T.v. has a black box in the middle of the screen

Hi Erica,

Black box is a closed caption without a text. To resolve the issue, go to the menu, navigate to CC (closed caption), turned it off.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

Tv picture is getting too big for the screen. Can the picture size be reduced?

Hi, well this is most likely a Aspect Ratio issue, this can be set via the TV's Menu. You simply need to adjust this aspect ratio, to suit you viewing requirements.
It is all explained how to do this in your user manual, link provided below. http://www.devicemanuals.com/guide/Television/Symphonic/Symphonic-ST420FF-20-TV-Owner's-Manual-T0RVek16az.html

Symphonic 20" television will only get three local channels

I suspect your tv has gone back to air and should be in cable mode; you will have to go into menu where channel programming takes place. Select cable and autoprogram; it should pick up the missing channels.
