Water goes down into washer, but does not seem to

I have a GE washer. Lately, water goes down into washer, but does not seem to stay; as a result, clothes are not being washed - some even remain dry (inside the washer, while being "washed"). The way i figured it out, something (a valve, perhaps?) is supposed to close, retaining the water inside the tumbler, but it seem like it is open, hence, no water in the tumbler as clothes are being agitated. Any suggestions, please? Frustrated mommy.

Well if this is a front loading GE and it has a pump similar to the Frigidaire Models (who knows who makes what for whom) there is a check valve that closes on the pump where the hose connects to the drain hose if this has fallen apart or off the pump will allow the water to drain into the hose rather than staying in the wash tub without knowing the model number it is difficult to be certain of this. If yours has the small access panel on the front with two screws at the bottom most likely the pump check flap (small piece of rubber on the pump outlet) is probably shot. Only other thing is to make sure the drain hose has not changed position and causing siphoning of the wash tub.

We purchased a Crosley Top loading high capacity washer several months ago. Why are ALL the clothes, regardless of fiber content, wrinkled when they come out of the washer? It does not matter the size

That's a normal result of the spin cycle which wrings the excess moisture out of the fabrics. The wrinkles should disappear, or be significantly reduced, after running them through a clothes dryer, or hanging them properly for line drying.

However, more wrinkles will remain if you allow the damp clothes to remain in the washer too long before drying.

Items not dry enough after spin cycle, some water remains in machine

This is normal. It depends on a number of factors, including the type and volume of clothing you are trying to wash. Usually, it is not a machine issue.

GE top load washer w/no lint trap leaves excessive lint

Most US-sold washers made after the mid 1980s don't have lint filters. The manufacturers weasel-word around it by saying that the lint "goes down the drain", leading people to optimistically assume that there is a self-cleaning filter in there somewhere. There usually isn't and whatever lint doesn't go down the drain is filtered by your cloths (but whatever does might clog your septic system). As a result of this scam, it's much harder to hang-dry or iron-dry clothes that haven't been hand washed. And, if you think spending $2000 on a pair of matched "front-load" style machines will solve this, you might be wrong; many of those washers still have no lint filter.

GE front loading washer softener dispenser does not dispense

After you put your normal softener into the dispenser, top it with water. The remaining water the machine will pour in. You can even try cleaning it with a toothbrush first.
