How to set up netgear ex6100 wifi range extender

Overview:
This article describes how to set up a NETGEAR EX6100 in Extender Mode
The extender connects wirelessly to your existing WiFi network, and then it creates a new WiFi extended network and links the two WiFi networks.
Symptoms:
Cannot connect to extender
Extender broadcasting EX6100_NETGEAR_2GEXT
Extender broadcasting EX6100_NETGEAR_5GEXT
Extender cannot access Internet or network
Process:
1. Place your extender in the same room as your WiFi router.
2. Plug the extender into an electric outlet and wait one minute. The PowerLED lights green.
If the Power LED does not light, press the Power button on the side.
3. Make sure that the mode switch on the extender is set to Extender.
4. Use a WiFi network utility on a computer or mobile device to find and connect to the EX6100_NETGEAR_2GEXT or EX6100_NETGEAR_5GEXT (SSID) WiFi network.
Note: EX6100_NETGEAR_2GEXT and EX6100_NETGEAR_5GEXT are the default name of your extender's wireless networks, and by default it is unsecured. If you changed the wireless name or security in the past, connect to the new name or enter the passphrase when prompted. EX6100_NETGEAR_5GEXT is only visible if your wireless adapter is 5 GHz capable.
After the wireless connection with the computer or mobile device is established, the Client Link LED lights solid green.
5. Open a web browser window from the same computer or mobile device. The browser takes you directly to NETGEAR genie Smart Setup.
Note: If you are not automatically directed to NETGEAR genie, launch an Internet browser and type www.mywifiext.net in the address field of the browser. Enter admin for the user name and password for the password.

7. Type the network passphrase (also called password or security key) in the Passphrase field and click the Continue button.
8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 to select a 5GHz WiFi network.
Note: If your router does not support the 5GHz band, click the Skip button.
9. Select Private Network(home network) or Public Network radio button, and click Continue.
Note: Selecting Public Network will enable NAT and DHCP on the EX6100. For more info on NAT refer to: What is NAT (Network Address Translation)?
10. Type the name (SSID) for your WiFi extended network in the 2.4GHz and 5GHz Network Name (SSID) field and click the Continue button.
Note: You can use the same security settings as your existing network by selecting the Use the same security mode check box.
The WiFi extended network settings are applied.
11. Use a WiFi network manager on a mobile device or computer to connect to the extenders newly created WiFi network.
12. Click on the check box and click on Continue to finalize the installation.
13. Unplug the extender and move it to a new location closer to the area with a poor WiFi signal.
Note: The location you choose must be within the range of your existing WiFi router network.
14. Plug the extender into an electrical outlet and wait one minute. The Power LED lights green. Connect to the extender network and enjoy the extended Wifi network.

Need to change NAT settings. None of the IP address take me to the router config page.

Its simply because this device is dumb (no config) it is just a standard switch no routing aka: NAT.

The router was open two days ago when I was playing the xboxlive suddenly the next day it changed to strict how can I change it back to open so I can play with my friends online?

Basically what happend is NAT closed instead of being open NAT. You have to log in to the router ip address in your web browser and set it to open nat. You get your router ip address by going to the command prompt and typing ipconfig. You can google this procedure or consult Netgear as they can walk you through it easily. Youtube has videos on how to open Nat on many different brand of routers. Now you know the problem and what the answer is please rate and comment!!! Thanks.

How to connect netgear fs108 to cable modem

leeb..... switches cannot be connected to the Cable modem.... because NAT will not be enabled in cable modem....so there wont be any DHCP server present in the cable modem....
Nat will be enabled only in DSL modem like AT&T verizon etc....So DHCP server will be present inside DSL modem...that is the reason why switches can be connected only to the DSL modem....
With NAT enabled modem, switch will work as a switch.... With NAT disabled modem, switch will work as a hub.... This is the difference....
Any doubts further ? please clarify with me.... I am ready to help you....

I have a netgear WNDR3300 and my ps3 has a NAT type 3 how do i get it to a type 2?

You have to manually set the NAT type of your PS3 to type 2. I believe you can do that thru the interface. Most routers has NAT 2.

NAT settings on network for XBOX

On most routers you can't change the NAT settings, mine is strict and I can't change, so it's slow. Anyways, try looking at your internet settings, on the browser, if you're not sure what your internet settings IP is, then go to Network settings, right click on your network, look for the IP default gateway. Once you have that, copy it into your broswer's adress bar and it should bring up your settings page.

If it ask for a password, then just leave the name as administrator, and put password as the password. Once you're in, look for gaming I believe, not to sure, don't have a netgear router, but look for NAT settings, and choose open.

Hope this works!

Ps3 nat type 3

In order to achieve NAT 2, you are going to have to set your PS3 to a static IP address and forward ports on your router.

detailed instructions on how to do this and configure your ps3 can be found here:
http://www.pregamelobby.com/forum/sony-reviews-tips/5618-how-get-type-2-open-nat-your-ps3.html

In order to get into your router settings, go to 192.168.0.1 OR www.routerlogin.net (the router sets up its own DNS) and putting in your username and password. If you have not set up a password, the default username and password for this router is "admin"/"password". Follow the instructions in the page I posted once you are logged into the router's webmin.

Hope this helps!
