When i recieve texts, the number is shown not the persons name even though i have them in my phone book and they are not using a different number. it happens randomly
Just check in the phone book whether the number saved in the phone book or sim card or momory card are saved twice with 2 different or same name. if it is saved with 2 different name/same name. nokia phone gets confused which name to be displayed and he flash only the mobile number and not the name.

check the phone book entries...possible the names are appearing twice in the phonebook...or the format in which nos are saved could be diff from the format of numbers u get message ...eg : u might have stores only no and when u recieve msg it might come with a 0 or country code too
check your fone book, or copy all the contacts to your sim, then,, erase all the contacts in your fon, after all place back your sim then copy all the contacts from sim to fon
It should be as simple as adding their name and number to the address book on the phone.
Make sure to list the number under the Mobile Phone line.
While in the address book, there is usually a line that says "New Entry" or "Add number" etc...(without the type of phone I cant get specific).
Another method is to into the text message itself and do an options click (again without the phone cant be specific) and there should be an option to add the number to the address book.
this is because you have a duplicate contact name in your phone book.. if you have different contact name in your phone book with same number.. only the number will show up...
If you dont have them saved in your phonebook only the number will be shown. If you do have the number stored on the phone then double check the number and see if its in the right phone directory. Hope This Helps!
go to ur message settings and set the phone caller id on and press ok after some time when any message come from ur contact numbers it will show or it is unkonwn number means it will not shown
When it comes through it usually comes with the area code and number correct? that is the way you have to save it. Look at the number and if it has the 1+ area code+ number that is the way the phone rconises it and that is the way it needs to be saved. I always save mine to phone instead of the sim since it gives you more options in the phonebook.

I have the phone and have had the same problem. I found I have to add the "1" before the area code to all the saved contacts or at least the ones you use most and that should fix it... when the text message is received it has the "1" normally we don't save the number that way...
