My TV changes channels or source by itself. I have cleaned the buttons out on the top with air and have tried covering the remote sensor in case it was something else interfereing. This came on suddenly and continues in two different homes.
This may or may not be your solution.
The tact switches (push buttons) mounted on the circuit board may need to be replaced (old, worn, sticking). These are the buttons that are pressed in when you use the controls on the television set (volume, menu, channels etc.). Try removing all of these switches (don't remove the remote sensor). Don't remove just the channel switches.
If you have a remote than you don't 'have' to replace them, only if you want to control the tv from the set itself. After you remove them see if you have the same issue. If so you may need a new control IC chip.
A repair shop will charge about $75 to replace the buttons. If you have the tools and knowledge than feel free to do it yourself. To remove mine, I just used pliers and was careful. However to replace them you will need a soldering iron.
