Samsung scd103 mini dv ( white lcd screen)

Opened my lcd screen on my camcorder yersterday to record daughters birthday and the screen was completely white. What is wrong with my camcorder is this a defect or what. I can shut the lcd and get a picture through the little eye screen when playing and recording. Please help, email me at [email protected] or post it anything will help.

I HAVE THE SAME WHITE SCREEN THAT APPEARED AFTER MY 90 DAY WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE PROBLEMS I'VE BEEN HEARING ABOUT SAMSUNG CAMCORDERS LEADS ME TO CONCLUDE THAT THEY MANUFACTURE JUNK. A FRIEND OF MINE THAT SELLS ELECTRONICS INFORMED ME THAT SAMSUNG CAMERAS AND CAMCORDERS ARE BOTTOM OF THE BARREL PRODUCTS. I WISH I KNEW THIS INFORMATION BEFORE I THROUGH MY MONEY AWAY.

I OWN A SAMSUNG SC-D103 PIECE OF JUNK.

Hello,

I also have the same problem with my SCD103, but I will say that I have had my camcorder for at least 7 years and it has been great. But now I too have the problem with the white screen on the monitor. Yes I too can tape thru the viewfinder and watch. I also noticed that when you have the monitor on you can't even change the menu. Has anyone tried to clean the heads as the manual states? They say to use a dry tape cassette cleaner??? Not sure what that is or where to go and get it. My son's work at Best Buy, Im going to ask them and I will let you all know.

Hi,

Hi,this sounds as if the LCD monitor is defect and will be in need of replacement.To confirm LCD defect,insure that problem is with display, by verifying video output to TV or PC.If video is alright through a/v outputs to TV,than LCD is defect.However,if TV output is also white,than problem lies on main camera PC board.Whichever the case I do think that warranty repair should apply on this model and suggest to contact mfg factory service.

Note - In few cases i have seen that even corrupted firmware could cause the same.

I have a samsung scd103 digital cam and when i record something it looks good on the screen while im recording it but when i play it back there are grey lines and distorted sound

Have you tried cleaning the recording heads? Use a dry type cassette cleaner only. It's just like a vcr head cleaner tape, only in the small mini-dv tape size.

Recording

you can use an a/v to rca adapter cord to transfer from dv tape to vcr or dvd recorder. If you dont have the cord , you can get 1 cheap on e-bay, at walmart or radioshack.

LCD Screen

Replace the Ribbon Wire between the Mini DV unit and the lcd screen. Samsung wanted $136 to repair same issue for me. Screen started with colored lines eventually going to white lines and finally screen went completely black and stayed black. I replaced the Ribbon Wire after purchasing a copy of the systems schematics and repair manuel online. With total cost of everything i bought to make this repair I saved a little over $115 from what Samsung wanted for the same repair.
