Question about Panasonic PT-51HX41 51" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Had a question about the Panasonic PT 51HX41 51 in. projection

I had one of the same problems as listed on one of the forums about this model shutting down after about 5 seconds. It actually never really turns on, just sounds like it is about to, then after two clicks its off and the power light is blinking once every 5 seconds or so. You said to replace the convergence amps, model STK..... anyways, I did that and I still have the same problem. You had mentioned to replace any 2.2 ohm 1w feed resistors in front of the convergence amps that had changed value. I didn't do this, and I am wondering if any would need to be replaced if their value changed, or if it should still work without repacing them. Should I go back and do this, or look elsewhere to resolve the problem? Any help is much appreciated! Thank you!

One other thing, sorry, is there a trick to putting the screen back on after cleaning? I had it all taken apart so I figured what the heck, I'll clean the screen, now it takes on a concave shape wich will def. cause convergence issues with the HD. Wondering if there is any trick to flattening that out?

The 2.2 ohm resistors in that circuit are the yoke return voltage and yes they could be the problem. Using a dmm or analog meter test the ohm resistance of each resistor. You may find one that is open possibly. But change any that are off by more than 10% and/or obviously stressed.
BTW re-check your solder connections on each of those amp pins. Make sure you haven't soldered two pins together or missed one.
As for the screen, they fit into a track on the framing. Look closely and you'll probably find where it's hanging on the track and not letting the screen seat into the track.
