Question about JVC Cybercam GR-DV500US Mini DV Digital Camcorder
Make sure the computer contains the drivers for the camera.
If you would be using FireWire (IEEE1394) it would be no problem.
Check the box the camera came with (or Online) and install the required software. If you have done all that and it still doesn't work try to change the port you connect to. If it still doesn't work you may have an incompatibility issue or a corrupt USB driver which is resolved by reinstalling your computer USB drivers and camera drivers.
Hope it helps.

This camera requires a FireWire (IEEE1394) connection. There is no software or driver.

Please state exactly what the PC error says.
If you connected the camera to the PC before you loaded the JVC drivers then the PC assigned a generic driver to the camera's USB ID CODE. This is now married to this USB code every tine you connect the camera. Since it is not what the camera needs to operate it will not operate. The only way to correct this is to uninstall these drivers. The best way to do this is to go into the device manager and expand the list for the USB devices. While you are watching the screen plug the camera into the PC. The USB line that shows up is the camera. Hightlight this line, right click, go to properties, go to drivers, click the box that says un-install. When the operation finishes the line in the USB section will go away. Unplug the camera from the PC. Take the CD that came with the camera and insert it. It will automatically load the drivers, you may not even realize something happened. The other software on the CD is the movie editor and player. You should install these because the instruction book references these programs.
Now plug the camera into the PC. It MUST recognize the camera as a JVC camera and show you that it found new hardware with the model number in this box. If the new hardware wizard opens up go thru the steps and select that you have the disk and then direct it to the drive where the cd is. let it find the drivers on the disk and load them. If the PC does not say the model number of the camera when you plug it in everytime you plug it in it was not loaded properly. If all of this is beyond your scope of PC knowledge then you should ask someone with more PC skills to help you.
