Hi, I have got the same problem, I bought the laptop from Germany so the operating system was German so the first thing that I've done is to format it and install Windows Vista Business in English, I tried the drivers and the same problem happens... even without rebooting..
I have tried installing another version of the driver (Audio_Realtek_v6.0.1.5449_Vista) , the problem disappeared, but the sound was really poor, the subwoofer didn't work, and the sound was like an old radio.. please help

I have a similar problem, there is sound but only the basics, like on Messenger or when you have a direction pop-up to over-ride a saved doc etc. However playing a game, video and the likes it plays briefly and then crackles and disappears. I have checked and all drivers seem fine, the system obviously has sound or I would not even hear basic sounds. The only thing I remember doing was uninstalling the Acer Widget (annoying thing) and after that I have had this problem. Problem is I don't even know how to retrieve the Widget so I can test to see if that was indeed the problem.

I have found a perfect fix for this problem. You MUST update the BIOS in order to fix what Acer calls BOBO audio problems. (No one knows what BOBO means.)

ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_7720/vista/Bios/v1.34.zip

That link is from the Acer Europe website, but the update worked on my Aspire 7720 here in the US. I did it easily by downloading the zip and then extracting ICL50134_Winflash.zip folder. Then I extracted the executable from that folder and ran it. It will detect your current BIOS and ask if youw ant to update. I clicked yes. Then it reboots and the audio works as it should have always!

Secondly, there is another change I suggest. The 7720 series laptop comes pre-installed in device manager saying that it is using IDE when in fact it is all ATA. I suggest going to the device manager and right clicking both IDE channels at the top of your list in IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. Then reboot and vista or xp will reinstall these automatically as ATA. I have honestly noticed a performance difference based on that small difference.

I got most of this information from: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=224288&page=2 and http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=224288

It's a defininite driver problem. Adelete and reinstall of the driver cures the problem until the computer is rebooted the the problem reappears.

Could be the speakers are faulty, or u installed generic sound drivers instead of its original drivers, if u have the original drivers install them and see what happens

Speakers sound staticy and computer runs slow

Definitely sounds driver related. Be sure to completely uninstall sound drivers and controllers from Device manager, and reinstall directly from manufacturers web site. If this doesnt fix it could be a bad connection.

I have an error message that says: Error wile trying to synchronize Audio and MIDI Sample Rate 38441 reciognized. Check conflict between GarageBand and external device. Any suggestions?

what you need is a "FULL DUPLEX ASIO DRIVE",which you get with programs like cubase sx, this is like a universal driver which has always synced any audio equipment i've hooked up to my computer, internal & external.make sure it's the full duplex & not the asio4all v2.
But really you shouldn't be having much trouble if your using a USB midi interface.unless your computers sound card is ****.
try resetting the sound cards sample rate to 44100HZ which is the standard rate for most audio,or 48000HZ for digital.

Staticy Speakers?

Sometime over powering the speakers, blows them out. If this is the case, use a external set.
If not, try reloading your sound device drivers.
Hope this has helped you

Microphone fuzz

Try turning the microphone volume down in your sound settings - fuzziness is usually caused by trying to amplify the signal to a higher level than it can carry.

For your own piece of mind, you might also want to check your headset on someone else's machine - that will pretty quickly distinguish between a headset and a computer problem.

Logitech sound problem

Normal 0 Two things can cause static.
First, If you have your speakers turned up to high it will give you feedback causing distortion and static. I recommend using a headset when videoing.
Second reason is, if you are using a laptop and have added an external microphone between the two it will cause distortion and static.
Not knowing the configuration of your computer makes it harder to analyze the problem.
So hope this is of some help. Bud

No sound

Yes you have to install the drivers for your sound card.....this always happens when you install XP it fails to read what drivers are in your sound card which is on board. Do you have the original drivers do you know the sound card onboard?
