Question about GE Energy Star WCVH6260F Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Door Locked I have a GE front load washer that is a little over one year old. For the last month or so it does this off an on, the display screen says the door is locked but it isn't locking and since the door won't lock the cycle won't start. If anybody can tell me what to do that would be GREAT!

I have the same problem, I purchased a new door lock assembly and it does the same thing, I really need help with this, I am in the military and stationed overseas (no repairman can be called)

I am having the same problem. Door locked light is on, but the door is not locked. Washer will not run any cycles with the "door locked". We had a "technician" come out and replace the door lock assembly, but that did not fix the problem. They stated the replacement part was faulty and are ordering a new one, however I do not have much faith in these people. A temporary fix is to manually reset the door locked, but even that does not seem to be working now. I have noticed that when you push the inner washer "where you load you clothes" the light does go off. Anyone have a real solution to fix this problem.

I had the exact same problem and had to pay over $300 to have a new door switch installed today. My machine is only a year and a half old. This was the 2nd visit. First one was 4 days ago when the said the problem was the filter on the bottom needed cleaned out. I did 2 loads and the door lock returned. The machine is too new

Today they told me I had an error of 061....(there was an alpha in front of it...but I can't remember!)

SOURCE: Electrolux front load washer door won't

First try to reset the lock unplugged the power machine for a few (10) minutes (maybe release the interlock door switch). If this work, them its possible that you need door latch replacement.

To do it, turn off power, unplug at the mains. Drag the machine out so you can see the back. Remove the 2 screws that hold the top on, pull back or tap the top forward (depending on the model) to unclip it. Peer inside. You will see the door switch inside the chassis exactly in line with the door handle on the outside. See if you manually make the mechanism release, or if you have a stubby philips screwdriver, you can probably unscrew the switch complely.

Keep us updated.

Planning to purchase a pair of 3000 Series Maytag Washer & Dryer. Is this a wise choice.

These days, everyone offers front loading washers and dryers. The things to know about them, is that unlike the old style top loading washers (and even the very old type of front washers from 20+ years ago) is that they function much differently.

First off, remember that you should only use He (High Efficiency) detergent and that the amount you'll be using is much less as well, so you'll have to change your habit of pouring in too much, as it will cause you problems.

You'll also need to get used to the different noises, or lack of, when the washer is running. Except for the spin cycle, you'll hardly know its running. Now about the spin cycle, most front loading washers go into "turbo" mode and get going very fast, which is great since it leaves the clothes barely damp in most cases when you take them out.

Now for the not so good issues with front loading washers. You'll want to also change your wash day habits by doing starting your laundry washing with the cold water washing first and finishing with your whites or hot water washing as the last load you do. The reason for this is that front loaders tend to retain just a little bit of water in them when they're done, and by doing the hot water loads last, you give the washer the best opportunity to keep any odor forming bacteria the least chance to start with.

Another key thing that none of the front load washer makers tell you to do is, keep the door of the washer open slightly when you're done with your laundry, as the door gaskets will hold some water and that is part of where the moldy smells, that many people experience, comes from. We've found that by doing that little thing, along with an occaisional wiping out of the door bellows gasket, keeps our washer from having any nasty odors.

Some folks recommend using special tablets once a month (Whirl-out), but I have an adversion to doing a "load" without clothes and hot water, and an cleaning tablet - seems to me that kinda of defeats the whole "less energy-less cost" premise of efficient front loaders. So by leaving the door open, we've avoided all that and haven' had the odor problems at all.

OK, by now you're wondering when I'm going to give you something on the Maytags you wanted to know about! Almost any front loading washer will do a great job and provide you with a decent working life. I prefer the GE, Maytag, Whirlpool, Kenmore, etc., but really don't like the LG's. My reasoning is that the LG's seem to have more issues with torn door gaskets and error codes than the others. While the LG's look nice and most folks buy them because they're so darned pretty, they are a disappointment in where it really counts, in my opinion.

So buy any of the American made washer/dryer units mention and you'll be very pleased with them, and by the way, the Maytag 3000 series, do look pretty nice too!

Take time to read your manual with your new appliances and you'll be ahead of most folks and get the best performance out of them for years to come!

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

GE front load washer- error msg "door locked"

have you checked for any foreign objects in the drain pump itself this if the most likely problem.or the drain pump has completly stop.make sure you pull the drain hoses from the pump and check for foreign objects if there is still water in the unit use a shop vac and connect it to the drain hose to remove all the water before disconnecting the drain hoses. after the water is drain this may unlock the door as well

GE WCVH6260 stops unexpectantly

Try buttons "dry" & "spin" together for a few seconds. This is the child lock display.

Or press "end of cycle" for over 5 seconds.

Or press "options & select" till the light goes off.

Works for other machines..............And please rate me if helped.

Check your drain with a good pour of water from a bucket, it must clear fast. It it doesn't snake it out; the prob lies there 99%. And don't push your exit hose too deep into the standpipe, 4 to 5 inches & not air tight.

As most these washers use the same control board.
try some of the troubleshooting you see here :

http://www.fixya.com/support/t364216-whirlpool_duet_ht_ghw9400pl0
The main relay (black one on the right of board ) may be at fault in your issue.
these boards have bad solder joints in most all cases.
If its still in warranty it time to call them.
If you open it please post pics.
