Question about Xerox WorkCentre PE16 All-In-One Laser Printer
Also found that if you look down on to the scanner glass below it there is a blue plastic indicator showing if the scanner is locked or not. The adjuster for this is in the paper-out area so can get knocked by somebody grabbing the paper.
Just pull the blue switch towards you so the indicator is on the unlocked padlock, then turn the unit off and back on and that might fix it.

Is the scanner latch in the down position. Would be on the right side of the machine.
Take the covers back off and disconnect and reconnect all the connectors again. The ribbon cables can be fickle and take 2 or 3 attempts to get seated properly.
May need to take the scanner back off, reconnect everything and make sure nothing is caught or binding.
Make sure you didn't somehow leave one connector unplugged, slipped behind something.
And during reassembly. You may have caught one of the harnesses or cables and damaged them. those on the right side looking from behind.
