I agree with your analysis of the problem, but are you telling me that there is no way for the queue to clear systematically after the document prints?
I guess I would not consider re-starting, disconnecting, turning printer off and/or unplugging printer a "solution".

I don't quite understand how your operation works. I am getting emails from you and "the machine". Should I be following instructions from you or am I expected to choose the recommendation that I think is best? Since I signed up for this service because I didn't know what to do, I am not sure I can make an intelligent decision as to what to do next.

Click start then run
type cmd and click OK
type: net stop spooler
hit enter
type: net start spooler
hit enter

This should clear your print queue without having to reboot your computer.

You could even create a batch file to automate this:

Create a new notepad document and rename it to clrspool.bat or something. Make sure to remove the .txt from the new file, Windows should complain about changing the file type. Open the new file with notepad (Right click it and pick edit). Add the two following lines then save and close the file:

net stop spooler
net start spooler

Just double click the file whenever your print jobs don't clear.

The problem is most likely not Windows but the printer, it's not notifying Windows that it is done with your document. Maybe Lexmark has a firmware upgrade for the printer that may help.

If you open up the printer's properties and pick print directly to the printer on the advanced tab that may help but this will slow dows your computer while you print. Also verify the other settings on the advanced tab to make sure hold mismatched documents and keep printed documents aren't checked. You could experiment with the other settings on the advanced tab and even change to a different print processor. Winprint->RAW is the default in case it has been changed.

It is entirely up to you who you believe. It's is whom ultimately gives you the working solution that should give get highest rating. When I offer a solution I try to be thorough and complete, I put the same amount of effort into my solutions as I do in my job (which is in the IT field).

My best solution for you would be to reload windows fresh on your computer and install the printer in the exact steps as laid out by Lexmark but that is much more difficult and time consuming than creating a batch file to run every time you get a stuck print job. Only after reloading Windows would you know for sure if your printer is causing the problem Otherwise you could lend your printer to a friend to see if the problem would eventually reproduce itself.

In the end it is up to you and only you have the choice to tell any expert to no longer provide their assistance.

I suspect it is because the print buffer in the printer is not being flushed properly and the document is sort of getting hung in limbo between the computer and printer.
the only way to clear cue is either re-start, disconnect the printer from the computer, or turn the printer off. Sometimes you may need to unplug it as well.

Sometimes there is no way to clear printer que with a click of mouse, because the process keep hanging between printer and PC, or spooling process is not responding or other. It is a bag of how spooling process works.

Well, you can use a printer manager, like the one in this link. (it is a pay for software, I do not know any freeware one). Or you can force the spooler to close from windows cmd, as illustrated by the machine, or try changing printer. But often the fastest solution is turning printer off etc.

Print web page

Sounds like maybe you do not have the Lexmark as your default printer.

Try choosing Print from the File Menu. Then you should see a list of printers and select the Lexmark.

If that doesn't work, try printing from another application like WordPad to make sure the printer can print at all.

If you still can't print, make sure the printer is online. Click on  Printers and Faxes in the Start Menu or the Control Panel. Then double click on the Lexmark printer icon. Make sure it doesn't say "Use Printer Offline" or "Paused" or anything like that in the title of the window that comes up. If it does use the Printer menu to change it.

Good luck!
