Replace electric burner element (by 2 users)

posted by greenpaddler on Mar 03, 2008

Yesterday while cooking on one burner my Jenn Air CVE3401 made a loud pop, then stopped working.  It threw off the breaker.  Each time I reset the breaker, it make a loud pop and trips the breaker.
I am assuming one of the burner elements burner out.  How do I get to the elements - from the top (Remove the glass top) or bottom (from underneath) - of the radiant glass flat cooking surface?  How can I tell if one is burned out or not?
Thanks!
I have the same problem.

I have a GE cooktop and one of my burners will heat up to a very high temperature regardless of what setting I set the burner on. Normally, at low settings the burner would heat up and then fade out to maintain a certain temperature but now, the burner stays bright red, like is if it was set on HIGH. GE Profile JP 930. Please let me know, I'm the cook of the house and this is frustrating me.

Thanks,
Rich
