Can only get "4:3" and "compressed 16:9" screen format. Want full "16:9" not compressed. How?

HDTV ready means that it will process HDTV signal to be viewed on you set. The size of your screen is still in a 4:3 ratio. Unless you have a true 16:9 size sceen you cannot get the full 16:9 picture. The actual physical size of the sceen is what makes TV's true HD or not. In other words, the screen has to be twice as wide as it is tall or 16:9. Your screen is almost square or 4:3. It can only show a compressed version of the 16:9. Thanks for using fixya.

I have a philips HD rear projection TV 60 in. inside there are six adjustment knobs. Three are color the other three are for brightness contrast and hue. Which is which Left to right

If yours is a rear projection TV the adjustment knobs on the focus block inside are screen (red, green, blue) and focus (red, green, blue). The ones you are referring to as color are the screen controls and they adjust the intensity of the color from each tube. The other set adjust the focus of each color. They are also not intended to be adjusted by the user. Unless major components have been changed these controls should not need adjustment. That is why they are inside the TV.

Have 54" magnavox. works great. took screen apart to clean. can't get the correct order of assembly so the picture is right, need screen assembly info. could i have hurt the plastic ridges in cleaning?...

The outer screen that has the vertical ribs will face the front of the set as you are looking at it.. The other will have a circular pattern as you can see, that will face the rear of the set, so the smooth side will be toward the back of the front screen.
If you have damaged the screens then try Encompassparts.com and MCM electronics.com

Need to disassemble Mitsubishi VS-6041 60 in Rear Projection

Wow, You are asking for a complete disasemmbly. If this is necessary, you have to remove any screws you can find that are connected to the front panel. Usually they are in the top of the set ( you'll find them after removing the mirror panel and mirror ). I wouldn't remove any tubes as the tube convergence would have to be all reset and that would require a cross hair generator. I do hope this has helped in some way, but all I can do is send you my best wishes as I certainaly don't suggest disassembly if there is any other way. Good luck
