Sounds like it is a sony tv ? If it is you could have loose contacts in the horizontal or flyback sections . Or you could have shorts in the startup section . If it is a sony. Otrherwise make and model would help in this matter . Good luck

Nope that is not the model # . It on the back of the set . Now some of the older sets when the power light only came on , you could have a problem where the regulator IC in the power section is going weak not allowing set to turn on . Also there is the horizontal transistor could be shorted and the set is in shut down . Other problem is the flyback transformer . This was also a common failure with these sets . Give me a model # as this will help me better identify your set with past problems i might have run into. Thanks

Sorry to give some bad news but this set was not sold in the US according to Hitachi's web site . And they had nothing posted in the in current problems section . I would tend to guess that a tech might charge between $80 to $150 for the labor plus the parts if you could take it to your local repair shop . If i were to guess by the pictures i've seen on the net of these sets i would bet a bad flyback transformer . Call the shops in your area to get the best price on getting it serviced . Sorry i could not have had better news for you . Good luck on getting it repaired it looked like a good set !

Its had the circuit board or tube fail. Probably not worth taking to an agent. Get online or local small adds and find another tv.

Plug in and red light flashes and makes a click sound

How many times this standby/power light blinks at one time switch ON? Count it carefully. These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. This will make repair easy. Hi,

The Standby/Power light of the TV blinks when there is any internal malfunction in the TV. The self-diagnostic function of the TV will cause the STANDBY light to blink or flash when the television detects an issue. The number of times the STANDBY light flashes corresponds to a specific issue.

Few examples are given below; some of the issues may be resolved without the need for service.
1 blink / 2 blinks / 5 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a power-related problem with your set.
3 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a power-related problem with your set. The set will need to be serviced to allow a technician to determine the specific issue that needs to be repaired. If the power light flashes three times in sequence in a Lamp TV, the lamp cover is not securely attached. Reattach the lamp cover to resolve this issue.
4 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a back light or lamp power problem.
6 blinks: - This indicates that there is some kind of audio problem with your set.
7 blinks: - This indicates that there is a temperature problem with your set. Please check to make sure that the air vents on the sides and back of the set are not blocked or clogged and there is adequate ventilation around the television. We recommend that you check and clean the vents periodically to make sure the set receives adequate air flow. If the problem continues, the set will need to be serviced.
8 blinks: - This indicates that there may be a video-related problem with your set. If the flash sequence is not listed above or the light continues to flash, follow the steps below to perform a power reset:
Try the following steps to check if the issue can be resolved.
Turn off the television.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.

If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.

If the issue continues to occur, service may be required.
