connect an external monitor and check how is the display,if the display is fine on external monitor, then it would be your LCD OR VIDEO CONNECTION OR CABLE NEED TO CHECK . If you are getting the garbled picture on the external monitor also it could be
SHARED MEMORY AT FAULT( If the laptop uses shared video memory (part of the main memory is used
for the video purposes), it's possible that you have a faulty RAM
stick.)
OR
VIDEO CARD (if the video card is discrete replace take out that and
check the video with integrated video card and if the video card is
integrated then you have to replace the mother board)
sugars_30, You or electronics technician will need to (most likely) fix the units "switch-mode-power-supply" !!! Do some extensive reading in my fixya profile and follow the links to other "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamp" back-lit lcd monitor tech's here on fixya. They and I already have written tons of stuff that will help you to understand the problem you have. When "strange stuff" starts happening with a ccfl lcd display, the first place to look is at the innerds of the monitor. Just do some reading!!! 12fixlouie
The frequency of the Monitor must be the same with the settings that you choose in the Control panel of your monitors driver. Try changing the this frequency in the monitor's settings.
Here is a definite solution to all those having problems with OCS menu on Relisys TL 766 Monitor. Having tried many of the posted solutions none of which worked. The only option was to visit my local PC repair shop who disconnected the OCD monitor for UK £15.00. Spare parts for this model are no longer available. Only down side was the power indicator light in middle of now redundant control buttons does not work. Otherwise a monitor works perfectly. NO MORE STRESS.
monitor drivers are superfluous you really don't need one all you need in stalled is a plug and play monitor and have the monitor refresh set to the correct hz and then set your screen refresh settings adjusted until it is as high as it can go and you are happy with.
Your Display cable (inside your monitor) needs to be replaced.
I would look on ebay to try and find the part and then take it to a local tech to replace it for you as I would not recommend anyone take apart a monitor (LCD OR CRT) if you had never done so before.
