Question about Sennheiser RS 130 Consumer Headphones

1 Answer

Not charging I bought the Sennheiser RS130 headphones about 1½ years ago now - and they've been working brilliantly. However, in the last couple of weeks, for no apparent reason, the "Charge" light stopped coming on. The headphones kept working, but after a couple of days they only lasted an hour or so. I've replaced the batteries (don't work at all), turned off the system and removed batteries for at least 30 seconds - but no luck. I'm thinking that I'm going to have to send them back, but as that's a jolly pain I thought I'd see if anybody had an easier solution. Thanks in advance

The headphones still work just fine (with charged batteries), and the base still transmits excellently...but it won't charge as it's supposed to.

    Thanks for your help.

My new Sennheiser RS 130 red chargeing light is on however it never goes to flashing, trickle charge mode. The headset does not respond, no sound at all. No beeps, does not seem to be charged.

My RS130 just stopped working about 4 weeks ago. Tried changing the batteries with fully charged ones and still no response. The charge light is on and the green on/off light it on but not even a humm. I tried hooking it up to other audio sources but had zero response from the headset. Unless I can get them working I'll probably dump them because I'm one who believes it's sometimes better to cut your losses with electronics rather than try to repair them. Any ideas?

I have not used the headphones for at least three days. Even though the headphones are on "off" they continue to keep charging and have been for a couple of days. What is the reason for the...

My Sennheiser HDR 140 headphones charge whenever you hang them on the charger. The charger will "trickle" charge them to keep the batteries fully charged. If you find when you use it the batteries discharge quickly it's time to replace them.
My batteries are about 2 years old and I still get about 8-10 hrs of use before needing to recharge

I have HDR65/RS65 Sennheiser wireless headphones. I disconnected them to move stuff around, then re-connected them. Now all I get is a 2 second cycle consisting of: 1 second of static that builds in...

Try connecting them to an MP3 player or connect wired headphones to the same source to make sure the sound source is working correctly. If that works, verify the voltage on the batteries is 2.4 volts after charging. Mine stopped charging fully and the headphones wouldn't work at all, but when I connected a couple of AAA batteries to it in series, it worked great.

I have Seinheiser HD 202 headphones that my dad bought me for Christmas about a year ago. About a few months ago the left earphone stopped working. I have tried messing with the jack but that didn't seem...

The fault is in the cable: you will have to dismantle the left speaker housing and start cutting from the cable until the break is removed then solder it back to the speaker - use an multimeter to check the continuity of the wires.

My cordless HDR 130 Sennheiser headphones no longer charge. I have only had them for about four years. What do you think is going on?

The batteries are at end-of-life OR your charger has failed.

Forst replace the batteries... they are MOST likely bad. Charge the new ones before using.

Sennheiser RS120 with noise...

Couple of things could be going on..

Try the obvious first

1. Select a different channel on the base unit: Located on the front, under the logo is a small switch. Note the position and try the other two settings
2. Make sure your base unit is not next to other items that may interfere with it.. cordless phones and wireless network routers etc.. microwaves or other RF sources .. fluorescent lamps.. etc

Lastly.. just about all wireless headphones have some noise or background hiss.. but it should be minor.. if the rechargeable batteries are not taking a full charge or cannot retain the charge properly.. the reception will also weaken.. and that noise will increase.. and the reception distance will decrease.

You can buy a new set of rechargeable batteries .. just make sure they are exactly like those in your headphones..

If I remember right.. they are Nickel Metal Hydride… (NiMH).. Radio Shack will have them.. or a store like Batteries Plus.. If you replace them.. go for a slightly beefier battery.. a higher mA-h.. may take a bit longer to charge initially.. (If you try this.. remember.. they will need to charge overnight before use) but will “play” longer in use.

It has been noted that many of these headphones shipped with inferior batteries.. that problems seems to have been addressed by the mfg.

Good Luck!

Headphones cut in and out - distorted sound

Dance_to_it -
I have had these great headphones over 15 years (I think!)
1. Are the batteries getting a full 8 hour charge?
2. Have you tried all 3 channel options?
3. Is there anything else close by that is an RF transmitter or receiver? If so, move the headphone base or other RF instrument away from each other.
4. If these are the original batteries you probably need new ones.
5. When purchasing new batteries I recommend original equipment Sennheiser BA151 batteries, not any other brand. I have tried 3 or 4 other brands, all with less than satisfying results. I have no affiliation with Sennheiser corp., just a consumer of their products (and Grado's for wired headphones)
Good luck!
