Question about Cameras

1 Answer

Minolta x-300 I have my father's Minolta X-300. It all seems to work, I fitted new batteries, but there is a delay in the shutter speed. When you look in the viewfinder, you see the speeds on the right and depending on the light/aperture/etc. 2 red lights light up the proper speed, but there is a flashing red light at 1 or 1/2 all the time, and the shutter works at that speed. Could anyone tell me what I have done wrong, my Dad used it some time ago and it was alright, so I have got it wrong. Thank you. John

The X-300 is very similar to the X-700 minus a few features like program 'P' mode. The VF displays are very similar for metering and exposure. You can read the users guide for the X700 here on

Nikon D3100 shutter "problem"?

Are your pictures properly exposed and are they sharp or are your pictures degraded? Is that 1/3-second you describe a delay between the time you push the shutter release and the time the picture is taken or somthing else? Check to make sure you're in the proper shutter release mode (slider switch to right of the mode dial). Also, your self-timer may be turned on. Your camera allows you to set a 2 or 10 second delay from the menus. If it is set to 2 seconds and turned on, it might seem like a 1/3-second delay. If that doesn't help, you camera is covered by Nikon's warranty. Contact Nikon Service at 1-800-NIKON-US (1-800-645-6687) 9AM-8PM EST, Monday to Friday.

I have the timer set for 10 sec, how do I make it work?

Once you have the self-timer set, start it by pressing the shutter release button as usual. The camera will focus, meter the exposure, then delay for ten seconds before firing the shutter.

My sony dsc t100 cyber shot seems to have a slow shutter speed and the pictures are blurry. I have tried multipel settings. I can hear it "c l i c k" very slow even in burst mode. Was wondering if it could...

Use Focus Lock.

Not applicable for the E-series digital cameras.
The shutter is delayed because of the additional flashes. In turn, make sure the picture's subjects wait for the additional flashes.

Indoor picture are dark when using flash---seem like the flash and the camera are not in sync minolta 7d digital camera

If you are in Manual Mode and you set your shutter speed too higher (ie above 250th sec) the shutter blind passes over the sensor when the flash goes off causing a dark section in the photo. Lower the shutter speed to get a better sync. Some camera's default sync speed is 1/60th of a second and sometimes user adjustable.

Remember the longer the shutter speed, the more light will register in the photo. Also boosting the ISO will help extend the flashes range and also record more ambient light for a more pleasing and balanced photo.

Shutter is delayed and pictures are blurry

Check the anti-shake setting and turn it off to see if that is a problem. Batteries can affect that mode as well.

Help with digital camera!

Hey xrebecca26,
I am assuming you are referring to zoom range of the lens when you say 16-18. Finding a camera with a 16-18x zoom range for $250 or less is going to be difficult to do, but BestBuy.com does have the Canon sx100is in your price range and it has a 10x optical zoom. As far as shutter delay goes most new camera's do a pretty good job at this I would suggest just trying it out before you buy the camera. Shutter delay is caused by the camera having a small buffer where the images are temporarily stored while the camera writes the images to your memory card. Buying a memory card with a fast write speed should greatly reduce shutter delay. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
