Question about Harman Kardon SoundSticks II Computer Speakers

1 Answer

No sound from subwoofer

Hello all,
I've just opened my brand new SoundSticks II, but unfortunately I get no sound from subwoofer, only satellites operate. I set the subwoofer volume control to max, but with no luck. The blue light inside subwoofer is lit.
Thanks a lot.

You're in warranty. Appers to be a common problem. Soundstixks should either tell you how to fix it or replace your system.

Well, it might be something simple after all. You have to configure your sound configuration for your computer in control panel. Go there, click hardware and sound, click sound, click manage audio devices, (you may have to go to your audio manager), (have your SoundSticks II plugged in for the computer to recognize their presence), and then you should be able to chose your speaker configuration, which is external with woofer. You may have your computer set for internal speakers. Hope that works.

Hello
It seems that the power supply section of your speaker systen has the fault. Check the fuse inside it. If it found blown out, never replace an other fuse in place. Check the power supply circuit board for any short circuited components in it, before replacing an other fuse.

I've got a dim blue flashing light from my subwoofer with Soundsticks usb. Is this a poweradapter problem or an electronic problem?

Hello
It is with its power transformer problem itself. There is a protection fuse inside, which will blow out, of any direct short circuit occurs inside the unit. when the fuse blows out, a blue light, such you describes here can be seen from it, as its body is transparent.
But, before replacing this fuse, you have to find out the exact reason for its blow out, before replacing it with an other similar one. OK.

These "proposed solutions" obviously have absolutely NO relation to the problem stated. Which by the way is far too typical of this site. :(

Check the controls on the speakers -- you can "pan" the sound to "100%left-and-0%right" or "0%left-and-100%right", or somewhere in-between.

Also, double-click the "sound" icon on your computer, to open your "audio mixer" application.
It, too, has a "pan" slider.
