I have HP PAVILION 7940 PC,with aprox 400 photos in my documents.
i just cannot work out how to transfer images to a usb memory flash, something always comes up and says its unable to complete the task.i did manage to get about 20 out of 50 photos to transfer from one file.unfortunately i do not have any instruction manual for the pc,it was an ex demo model from comet and all the discs, manuals etc had been disposed of by accident.the pc is aprox 4 years old,it has about half the memory left.
have you any ideas i can try?

Re: getting photos to load to usb memory flash.
What is the size of the flash drive ? try a few pics at a time and see how many you can get. the file format on the flash drive is FAT and I think 1 GB is the transfer limit...Ok few at a time ..do not select all at once.
I hate to think but i hope that it is not a hard drive error.

are you asking how to reset the bios? have you tried pressing the "windows" key + B and keep holding it until you press the power button, do not let go of both windows and B keys until you see, BIOS upgrade starting, let go and follow the prompt, hopes this helps.
ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS TO COMPUTER If your photos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.
Transferring images from a Memory Card to a Windows Computer
Follow the steps below to transfer images from a memory card to a computer running Windows.
Step one: Insert the memory card
Follow the steps below to insert the memory card into the HP All-in-One.
Turn the memory card so that the label faces left, and the contacts are facing
your HP All-in-One.
Insert the memory card into the appropriate slot on the HP All-in-One.
Some portable USB flash
drives with a read-only partition, such as U3 smart drives, might be
incompatible with the front mass-storage port on your HP All-in-One.
These read-only partitions are added by the drive manufacturer and may
include utilities and other software. Refer to the manufacturer for
additional details about your drive.
When the memory card is inserted correctly, the Photo light next to the memory card slots begins to blink. The message Reading...
appears on the color graphics display. The status light next to the
memory card slots blinks green when the card is being accessed.
If a memory card is inserted incorrectly,
the status light next to the memory card slots blinks amber and the
color graphics display shows an error message such as Card is in backwards
or Card is not fully inserted.
Never attempt to remove a memory card while it is being
accessed. Doing so can damage files on the card. Safely remove a card
only when the status light next to the slots is not blinking.
Step two: Transfer images without using the HP Photosmart software
After inserting the memory card into the
HP All-in-One, the memory card appears as a drive on the computer.
Follow the steps below to transfer the images on the memory card to the
Press the Photo
button to display the Photo menu.
Press the down arrow button (
) to select Transfer to computer
Follow the prompts on the computer to complete the transfer of images.
If there are photo files
on the memory card that have never been transferred before, a dialog
box on the computer asks whether you want to save the photo files to the
computer. Click the Transfer
option and all the new photos from the memory card are saved to the
computer.By default, the image files are saved in month and year folders
depending on when the photos were taken. The folders are created under
the C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Pictures folder.
easiest way would be to use a usb thumb drive. Better yest invest in an good external Hard drive - move all of your photo from old pc (use my computer - select folder and move) then connect the external hard drive to your new pc and "copy" to your new pc. when all done you even have a backup copy of your precious photos in external hard drive...
The possible solution's are
1 . First uninstall the photosmart software from the system and reinstall the software once again . Install in C: drive and then connect usb and transfer photos this will work . If this doesn't work then try in another usb port of the computer and transfer photo's .
2. Photo's will be in memory card ,better get memory card reader and take out the memory card from the camera and insert it into the card reader . Now connect card reader to computer and transfer photo's .
