Microwave MH1160XSD1 Lift blower and turn. The instructions do not deal with how to release the blower to lift it and turn it. There are tabs toward the back side inhibiting the movement to lift it. Do I brake them off or bend them down?

On this model, item #1 is the only part you will need to invert. Lift out and rotate to allow venting to be possible to the wall. In other words, the open part needs to face the back of the microwave. Also if you removed the blower, you will need to re-install it back and correctly. You could have venting issues if not back in the proper location.

Typically there is a metal mounting plate screwed to the wall and when you take the screws out of the cabinet above it it will tilt forward toward you and then you have to lift it off of some metal tabs that are on the bottom of that mounting plate. Lift up and pull away from the wall and let the cord pull out of the hole in the bottom of the cabinet. Good luck. I usually do that by myself and hook one arm under it and lift it up, but probably better with two people.

If you see no panel on the inside of the unit, you will have to remove the housing.
If it isn't high-mounted, this isn't difficult; there are 3-5 screws around the edge of the back panel that keep the metallic housing in place. Once these are removed, lift the rear flange of the housing and tilt it forward, then pull it back toward you to release the front lip.
As a precaution; unplug the oven overnight since there are components that can keep a nasty electrical charge for hours, maybe not life-threatening but highly unpleasant.

Remove the top grill cover by gently pulling out on it and down on the right side. Remove the filter that is in the middle. Look at the metal cover, push back on the plastic tab and pull the metal clip toward you. You can now gently lift the cover off expsing the lightbulb and replace it. Simple and easy, no tools needed.

If installed correctly there should be two screws going down from the cabinet above. Remove the grill and there will be a release handle on the left side. The unit will tip towards you and can be lifted off the bottom lip of the wall plate. works best with two people...

The repair here is pretty straight forward, but I gotta tell you... I generally don't work on Goldstars so I'm working from memory with these instructions, OK?

Grab a step stool, open the cabinet above the microwave (MW) and UNPLUG IT!!! Now look at the top of the MW just above the grill, you should see a couple of phillips screws, remove them then remove the grill itself. Now you'll see the single screw that fastens the control panel, remove it. Now (with the door open) lift the control and pull towards you. This will expose the controller.

There will be a LOT of wires connected to it. What I do is take a sheet of paper and make a "map" of what wires go where BEFORE removing any of them. You may notice that some of the individual wire terminals are difficult to remove, these have a "locking tab" on them. DON'T FORCE IT OFF! Look closely and you'll see the tab, all you have to do is use a small flat screwdriver or the tip of a steak knife or anything small and sturdy... just lift the locking tab slightly and pull the wire at the same time, it'll come right off.

Now that you have the controller removed from the MW and laying on a flat surface all that's left is to do is swap the old controller for the new one and rebuild everything. There ya go! MW is fixed!

open doors of your cabinet above the microwave, look carefully toward the front you will see two screws one on either side, remove theses screws while a helper holds bottom of microwave, after screws are removed lift up on rear of microwave it will slide up and out of a rear clip mounted on the back wall. remove wall bracket and job is complete. oh yeah unplug microwave, or turn off circuitbreaker first. easy as 1, 2, 3. hope this helps.

Looking at the pamphlet, it sounds like you're doing everything right.

It sounds like something is a little bent or out of alignment making it stick.

Maybe you can take the tip of the screwdriver, and push against the motor assembly a bit to loosen it?

In most cases this is due to a broken door opening lever or loose or broken door latch / hook parts. They can only be accessed and examined if the cover is removed from the microwave. In many over the range models, you can access the door parts by removing the control panel assembly. Sometimes you may be able to get it open by pushing up gently on the bottom of the door while pushing the button, in case you need to empty it.
