Your dvd burner is bad i went through 5 my self took them all back to wal-mart the 6th one i bought was a display and it whent out a week later so i kept it and replaced the dvd recorder . there is not enough air inside to keep it cool .if you have a dvd recorder that comes with a pc thats 16 speed dual layer the reason i said dual layer is because my fast foward frozze up on mine when pushing fast forward had to restart it if you have a spare one laying around i would try it. it hooks up like a pc, one strap and power wire i put a regular 16 speed single frozze unit up a 4, 8 & 20 speed will not work there ethier 2 fast or 2 slow you can pick up a internal one on-line that go's to a pc will work somewhere from 20 to $40 but i whould put it on top of the ilo because if you put it back inside it will burn it up to i don't know if you can even get one like was in it if you do it will probly cosat you more and i don't think there as goog as the pc one the one i replaced has lasted loner then all six of mine sorry my writing is so bad been a long time since scool if you have any qustions e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org

This problem is normally caused by a dvd player with a dirty lens that it cannot read or detect a dvd in the player. At the same time if this is a dvd/vcr combo a vcr that will not load or is stuck can cause the problem. These can be checked by taking the screws off the unit and taking a look at the position of the dvd laser lens or the vcr position to see if it is in the fully eject position. The part that holds the laser lens to read the dvds can be moved manually back and forth to dislodge it from a stuck position with the power off. Depending on how long it sat around it could just be stuck. You see when you first turn the power on to the unit initially or try to eject a dvd, it will cycle through and try to read a dvd even though there is not one there on power up. If that assembly that moves the lens to read the dvd cannot move, it will cycle off and turn itself off even though you try to reset it with the power button.
A transistor on the power supply can also cause this problem but without taking signal and voltage measurements it would be difficult to pinpoint the exact one. So try moving the laser lens assembly manually and then turn it back on. Let me know. Good luck.
The electronic procedure: Switch off the unit at the wall plug. On
the front panel, hold in the <RECORD> and <EJECT> buttons
at the same time, and keeping them held, switch on the power at the
wall again. Keep holding the buttons until the disc tray opens.
I Have ILO DVRHD04 and my front buttons sto to work when i use the remote works ok... when the unit is of I turn on from the front paner works ok try to turn off from the front buttons is not work and the lite in the front go crazy only when i pres stop & play button and on fo button... what is the problem... The remote work ok play stop edit or recodring
Is there a small hole under the tray? Use a straightened paper clip and piu it in there and push, it should manually push the tray out. If there is anything on the DVD that looks like a computer program, the DVD may be trying to read it as a BIOS upgrade. The spindle motor may be bad too as the DVD is waiting for the platter to spin up to read it and is timing out.
Had a similar problem after loading a suspect dvd (one I had burned myself) Could not do anything - stuck at loading. Don't remember if the fan was running. From what I have read these units are touchy to bad disks (DVD or HDD) If yours has a DVD inserted try this :
Unplug and wait 10 seconds
plug it back in and wait 1 minute. DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTONS!
With the machine still in the standby state, press eject on the REMOTE. It should eject without trying to read the disk.
You can press the eject button on the drive behind the front panel or connect the ribbon cable from the drive to a PC to eject it. More instructions are on my website here:
