HTQ100 Whenever I go to turn on my Samsung HT-Q100, the display flashes some and then a symbol comes up that is a circle with a line through it(like a no smoking sign) then it goes away. Any idea what the problem might be?

Hello, Karl,
I had the same problem, I called samsung they were no help.
but the the symbol will say that there is a problem with the cooling fan. wen the fan is not turning around or slowly.(Bearing problem).
then the set is not working en is giving the symbol.(no smoking)
the best is to place a new fan.
remove 11 scews (marked with double pile sybol), 1 from the capof the main cord input.and 2 between the speaker conectoren.
take off careful the backcover cap and disconnect the Fan cable.
specs. fan:
factory : xFan brushles dc Fan
model: RDM 5015S 12v. 0,14A

Samsung spare part no. = AH-31-00056A
!!!!! the set is not working wih a fan that is not turning around or without fan (when the fan is disconnected)!!!!!

Hi Karl,
Can you use the unit after the symbol goes away?
The operating manual may be downloaded at;
http://safemanuals.com/annexe_INSTRUCTION%20MANUAL_SAMSUNG_HT-Q100T%20-%20HT-Q100-_E.htm#

The closest symbol to the one you mentioned is listed at page 28 of the manual. It is the "elapsed playing timer" symbol. This function is controlled by the "Remain" button.

Page 10 of the manual has a similar looking symbol warning you not to use certain incompatible disc formats;
Do not use the following types of disc!
• LD, CD-G, CD-I, CD-ROM and DVD-ROM discs cannot be played on this player.
If such discs are played, a "WRONG DISC FORMAT" message appears on the TV screen.
• DVD discs purchased abroad may not play on this player.
If such discs are played, a "WRONG REGION CODE" message appears on the TV screen.

Page 54 of the manual lists a reset procedure in case the unit power trips off or behaves errantly;
• Turn off the power and hold the button on the main unit for
longer than 5 seconds.
Using the RESET function will erase all stored settings.
Do not use this unless necessary.
Jango.

My samsung home theater system HT-Q100 cut off shortly after I turn it on.could it be a power supply problem ?

Yes it could be .., overheating is a killer in audio equipment depending in usage of unit. The audio amps of the board may be melting slowly, but fuses may do that too before they give out

Tip

Remove Regionalisation

Hi All

After having my HT-Q100 repaired by an official Samsung repair centre, I was unable to play any DVD's - even UK ones!

So I phoned Samsung, they said I should return it to the repair centre for it to be fixed.

I couldn't be bothered to waste time on this yet again, so I logged onto Moneysavingexpert.com and found that you can remove regionalisation on DVD players and it's totally legal!

Therefore the following instructions are for removing the regionalisation on the Samsung HT-Q100 so you can play any DVD's! I've just carried this out and it's fixed the DVD problem and can once again play DVD's!

1. Remove disc from tray.
2. Switch off player and unplug from mains.
3. Wait 30 seconds, then reconnect mains.
4. Turn on player with remote. Wait for player to finish loading and display 'no disc'.
5. Press enter on remote. (There will be no on-screen response.)
6. Press 8, 4, 2, 6, 9 on the remote. (There will be no on-screen response.)
7. Press enter on the remote. Player will automatically shut off.
8. Turn player on.
9. turn off.
10. Turn player off then on again.
11. Player is now region-free.

I currently have a DVD in and it won't eject. I have a Samsung HT-Q100 System

Turn off the DVD player completely. You MAY have to turn off the tv too. Let sit until you count to fifteen! Turn back on, tv first, then DVD player. You should be able to eject the disc then.

HOME THEATER SAMSUNG HT-Q100

Your systemn is designed and built to perform 2.1 sound. If you want 5.1 sound you can do 2 things, connect another pair of speakers to the same speakerterminal as your front speakers, however this produces 5.1 stereo sound and not 5.1 surround sound.
You can buy a new system that has the proper connections.

This set will not have the proper decoding software to produce 5.1 surroundsound. sorry.

No it does not. It will upscale regular DVD's to HD resolution, but that's an electronic trick. You'll need to buy a BluRay player to watch high definition discs.

The HD-DVD standard has been abandoned by Toshiba, so the Sony players are the one's to look for.

Connecting an iPod to a HT-Q100 Home Cinema System

If you connect an iPod via USB, the system will treat it as a hard drive and will use its (very basic) on-screen system to display your tracks.

I found the best way to get a result is to use a 3.5 (stereo) jack to RCA phono stereo input into the auxillary input on the back (side). To hear your iPod, select AUX on your Samsung and then select and play on your iPod. Bobs your uncle!!

My samsung htq100

This was caused by the fan cable not being plugged in, in my case.

If the fan's not working - it could contribute to the unit not working.

Hope that helps
