Question about Maytag MGC5430 Gas Cooktop
I need help with Admiral® 30 In. Gas Cooktop
Pilot Flame is too high.
The instructions say that in order for us to adjust it we have to “purge all air from supply system by turning on one top burner valve”.
How do we determine if we purged all air from the system?
How long should we wait until turning the valve off and adjusting the Pilot Screw?
You will only need to purge air from the supply if this is newly installed or if you have recently disconnected / reconnected the main gas supply for some reason. Otherwise, you can just skip that step.
If you do need to purge the system do the following:
MAKE SURE THE ROOM IS WELL VENTED TO OUTSIDE
REMOVE ALL SOURCES OF POSSIBLE IGNITION
Fully open the largest burner and allow to run until gas is smelt.
There is no way to say exactly how long it needs to be open as this very much depends on the length of pipework feeding the appliance, but in a typical domestic installation, this shouldn't be more than about 5-10 seconds.
Hope this helps,
