a search for "high gear looses power" reveals............wait for it...................valve float. == weak springs. Hey, like my back. it is old also and weak
You need to start at the simple stuff. Check the spark plugs and see if they are wet with gas. If not, could be a fuel pump issue. See if the plugs are fouled, change them and check for spark. If you have both, it should at least sputter. Check for water in the fuel.
Pour a little diesel down the spark plug hole... leave the spark plug out, keep it out of the rain... let it soak for a few days, then try the cord... may take up to a month but it will free up a little at a time.... once free keep the plugs out and pull hard a few times to get the diesel out of the piston chamber, change the oil as some of the diesel will get down to the bottom... put in new plugs and fire it up.
Your problem may be only a bad wire connection. Check the harness for any quick connectors. They sometimes get corrosion in them and stop electrical flow. If you have already checked the connections, disregard this.
No fuel or no spark. Quick test: spray some starter fluid into air intake and try to start it. If it runs and then dies, you've got spark but no fuel. If the bike quit with no prior symptoms, check spark plug wire not knocked loose, fuel filter clogged. (You do have gas, right?)
