I have a nintendo ds when you press the power button a red light comes on and the screen flashes and it shuts back off. Tried charging it even when to game store and had them test the charge that wasn't the problem. Put in new battery and still won't power on. Wonder if this needs to be recalled?

If when the charger is plugged in the light only flashes on and then straight back off again its something in the mother board. I was told this by a nintendo ds repairer. If the light stays on while the charger is connected its probably a loose connector or a broken screen.

Good luck

If she switched the shell, it was probably because the hinge was broken. If this is the case, there is a ribbon cable that runs through that hinge. If it is damaged, the system will blink on and then right back off. You can also see that possibly, only the bottom screen will blink on and off. This ribbon cable will need replaced. It normally runs about $10 total shipped.

Hi,
If you yourself have replace it, I think you damage the upper LCD ribbon connector. I have repaired a lot of DS, a broken hinge usually the cause of that problem( ribbon connector cut off ).
Check the upper LCD if that model have a seperate ribbon connector, luckily you could buy the ribbon only, if not, BAD LUCK, you have to buy a new upper LCD.
Hope that helps you out.
Thanks for asking FixYa!

Ds will not turn on... Whether plugged in to outlet or working from a charge ds screen will flash quickly and then turn off...

It might be worth checking the battery, if you can try another battery from a working ds and see if that works.

If the ds is still not powering up it it is probably the fuses have blown on the logic board, but without good soldering skills and a bit of tech knowledge its not really worth trying to swap them out. It may a thought to purchase a new motherboard.

If you feel confident enough to change the fuses you can buy them at ebay here is a diagram of the board and where the fuses are situated marked F1 and F2:

Diagram of board as you look at it with the back cover off. Hope this helps.

The best palce to buy new shells for the DS Lite

I have seen loads on ebay from all range of colours, your best bet is to find a company on ebay selling them that way you will get the shell through the post in a matter of days usually 2 - 3 working days sometimes less.

Nintendo ds lite

The switch is broken. This is a common problem if the shell case has been removed or if someone simply pushed way too ******* the power button. A new button can be purchased on ebay for under $10. Some soldering and desoldering will be required. The DS Lite is breakable when taking it apart so be careful. You can also send it to a guy like me for a fee and have it fixed or sell the broken unit to someone like me that fixes them.

Ds not lite

Replace the connector cord between two screens. You can buy new ones from DX Deal extreme! Carefully remove through hinge and attach securely.

Be careful not to break the fine wires connecting. Have to twist the connector cord in the correct way to make it go through hinge without damaging.

Good luck cos it is a fiddly job.
