Printer works on my 4 yr old EMachine and a neighbor's computer. Both have XP. My new Acer desktop has Vista. It's all hooked up and have checked all cords to and from between printer and computer. When I click on the computer screen print button, nothing prints and the computer screen says, "no connection with printer." Checked control panel's add printer/installed printers and it's the only one we have listed. I'm trying to print a page from Word.

There is a anti virus software that comes with the Vista (I hate Viatsa) and it is blocking the communication of the printer to the computer. I had to have Geek Squad come and they were the only ones that could figure that out. They removed the anti virus software and then it worked fine. I hope that helps you. I am sure at this point you either figured it out or bought a new printer.

Blinking green light

Try disconnecting the computer from the printer and shutting it down by removing the power cord and then also shut down the computer for a minute or so and then reboot it and check in "Printers" and see if it has anything waiting to be printed and if so clear out the queue. Flashing green light indicates that the printer is receiving data from the computer and/or printing so you shut it all down and cold reboot to clear out the computer confusion in both the computer and the printer.

When the printer has big green light and a orange light what does this mean?

Do you mean that the orange attention light is lit and the Go button/light is lit? If the attention light is blinking, then the printer is in manual feed mode or out of memory.

Put in the media and press the Go button. To reset the media selection, go to the Printer Properties. When printing from an application, click Print and then Properties. From the Printer control panel (Start > Devices and Printers (on recent Windows versions) or Start > Settings > Printers (on older OS versions - prior to XP).) In either case right click on the printer icon and choose Properties or Printing Properties.

If you have too large a file (too many large images) and are out of memory, stop and cancel this file in the print spooler. Then reprint with a lower resolution. (This is in the Print Quality options. See the above and then the Paper/Quality or Finishing tab) Options will vary depend on the OS. Alternatively, add memory to the printer.

If the Ready light is also lit, the error depends on the pattern. If the lights are blinking in rotation, then the printer is initializing or printing a test page. If the lights are steady, you have a fatal error. Try unplugging the printer for at least 5 minutes (remove all cords from both the wall, computer and printer for the best chance of clearing the error.) If the error persists, the printer needs service. If all of the lights are blinking together, than you have an accessory problem. Try removing the memory. You may be able to reseat the sticks; alternatively replace the memory.

I hope this helps.

I just changed my ink cartridges. The test page will print, but the computer page I'm trying to print...won't. In the bottem righthand corner the printer icon keeps blinking along with a left facing...

hi,

First of all would like to help you so that you can cancel your print job.

On the bottom righthand corner where the prinetr icon blinks simply right-click it and select "cancel," after which the print job status commences to display "deleting..."

So you shoud not be worried about loosing your receipt as you can print it again.

Also
  1. I would like you to unplug the USB wire connected from your computer, turning the device off and then connecting everything from scratch. You can also restart the computer.
  2. Then once the computer is on please click on START and go to RUN and type in services.msc and then on the right side of the page find print spool and right click, then choose restart.
And then try for fresh prints.

Please let me know if the above information helps.

Printer mechnical error

Resolving a blinking light When an error occurs, the power light will blink continuously and an error message will appear on the computer screen. Read the onscreen error message explaining the problem and follow its solution. Our Canon Selphy DS810 is not printing any color on the photo paper. I cleaned it several weeks ago, we have a new ink cartridge in and nothing. It was printing a light yellow color several weeks ago...

There are all kinds of printers and printing problems. It’s important to note at the outset that for safety reasons you should unplug your printer if you plan on working inside the device for any reason. In addition to the electrical hazard, printers (especially laser printers) can also be very hot on the inside, so use caution.

There are a few general troubleshooting steps you should take first, regardless of your printing problem. These will help solve most everyday printing issues.

Reboot. You’ll be amazed at how many printing problems simply disappear after you restart your computer. Also, reboot your printer. Sometimes, for no good reason, a printer will become wedged (it just stops communicating with the computer). Turning your printer off for a few seconds, and then back on, will usually get you going again.

Read the printer’s lights. Doing this can provide you with very useful clues. Is the power light on? Is the paper feed light blinking? Don’t be afraid to press buttons on the printer: Turn it off and on, reset the paper feed, and take the printer offline and bring it online again.

Check your physical connections. Is the power cord loose? Does the cable from the printer to the PC have a secure connection at both ends? Look at the connector pins on your cable. Are they bent? Try another cable if you have one. Check the print cartridges and printing mechanism. Is anything blocking the printer? Are the cartridges firmly in place?

Print a Windows test page. Access your printer’s Properties dialog box (follow the directions given above). Select the General tab and click the Print Test Page button. If nothing else, you can find out a good deal about your printer’s problem. If the test page prints, you have a problem with your application, not with Windows. Answer the questions as prompted and work through Windows’ Print Troubleshooter as needed.

Drivers. Verify drivers on the Details tab in the Printer Properties dialog box. Make sure the installed driver corresponds with your actual printer. Check the manufacturer’s Web site for updated drivers and browse the support pages on the site while you’re there.
