FREEZER quits working and if you unplug it and plug it back in will start working and work for weeks and may quit again.

If it has the control board on the door, they have been known to do that, it pressed/snapped into the door. If not and it has a manual ,standard knob on the inside, thermostat , slowly turn it back and forth to hear the clicking of the control which should start and stop the operation. If this is a self defrosting freezer and has the thermostat it also has a defrost timer that like a alarm clock shuts the unit on and off for 20 min intervals every 6 to 8 hours, this part has a little motor on it that overheats. You will be able to physically see oil comming out of it, or noisy ticking/ humming and very hot to the touch. Replace these parts and it should repair it. Good luck

Kenmore 7.5 freezer stopped working.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I just replaced the overload relay and it does the same thing. Runs for a few seconds and the loud click from overload relay. I did notice the relay is really hot to the touch, if that matters.Coils on back are clean. I had noticed the last few months that the inside coils were frosting up quite a bit.Really had hoped it was the relay.

Kenmore upright freezer quit freezing would work intermitantly and then quit cooling altogether, Approx 10 years old trouble shooting advise or most likely cause would be appreciated

Sorry to read about your problem. you can have many different problems.

Here are some areas to troubleshoot
1. Bad temp control
2. Failing compressor
3. Defective start cap
4. Defective overload protector
5. Defective control board

I suggest you call a service company. for compressor issues

Have upright Frigidaire freezer, about 2 yrs old, that quit running. Local repair guy replaced part with "3 n/1 Start" solid state relay overload capacitor combination. Worked great for 2 weeks then...

Good day,
That's a no-no. Your compressor carries a 5 year warranty from the factory. However, if anything is altered on it the warranty is voided. You've got an issue with this guy.

Frigidaire Ultrafreeze upright just stopped working

It sounds as if your compressor it's running. This could be a bad compressor, bad capacitor, bad thermostat. See that there are no fans or defrost, it is one of the other. I would start with checking the capacitor. You can replace it with a Supco 3 in 1. It cost around $30.00. Anything else is going to start costing $100.00 and more. If you need a freezer that big, I would have it fixed unless it ends up being the compressor.

Freezer Just Stop Working

You should not run your freezer from a strip plug, only from a wall outlet. It is OK for a small spark to occur since the freezer is trying to start the compressor as you plug it in. If there is a big spark that kicks out the circuit breaker if you plug it into a wall socket, then there is a short in the compressor or light circuit in the freezer. A strip plug in probably will not have the capacity to run the freezer. Plug it into the wall socket and try that. If you have a circuit breaker kick out, then it's your appliance. Hope this helps you, Rick

Kenmore Freezer 20.3 cu.ft. won't kick on

Poor mom..:) You need a technician for that problem. But much better if you buy new one because your unit is already 14 yrs old the labor and parts are expensive. For this problem I think the compressor is already burned or stuck up.
