Question about Belkin (A3X1627-06KIT-M) Modem
I have connected the modem to my computer via ethernet cable. sometimes, I can access the internet.
More frequently, my status bar shows that the LAN is connected and the modem and router are both working, but I cannot actually connect to the internet. The message usually says that there is no dial tone.
HELP Where do I go from here?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: Wont connect to the internet
Try this, assuming you're using Internet Explorer: Go to Tools > Internet Options and select the Connections tab. Does it show your old dial-up connection in the list? If so highlight it and click on REMOVE. Close IE and re-open it. It should now use the Belkin LAN connection.

SOURCE: Belkin Wireless Router
Just plug this router in and use the ethernet cable.
now use the (e) internet icon in your programs list. you will get an "cannot connect to internet" page or something like that.
in the TOP search area eg: address bar ...type in the ip address:192.168.2.1
and it should allow you acess to the site.
remember....you need your broadband account info..
YOU NEED TO GET THIS FAR TO SECURE YOUR WI-FI SYSTEM.

It's not unheard of for a router to fail. When you connected the computer to the Modem, did you use the same cable that was connected to the router? Does your internet connection require a username and password? If so, is that configured in your modem, or the router? If not in the modem it must be the router.

you have to unplug your cable modem before you connect the router. after you have connected the router you plug the power back on the cable modem then the router and you should be able to browse the net
