SOURCE: KitchenAid Dishwasher Door Pops open during cycle

Hello,

I have had the same problem since our KitchenAid was new. The only solution so far is to try bending the metal door latch down slightly. You will know when you have bent it too far as the door will no longer close. Just bend it back up slightly. I used to work in the appliance industry and got the service man to admit that the door latch has been an issue and there is no real fix. I have looked at the new KA dishwashers and they have since redesigned the door latch. I am going to see if the new latch can be retrofitted into my Kuds01FLSS6 dishwasher. I will post on here if indeed it works.

Good luck
Tom

SOURCE: Can't remove Dacor gas cooktop knobs-afraid too pull harder

The Dacor knobs have a history of breaking easily. For that reason I recommend that you clean them in place using cotton swabs, tooth brush, etc. WHatever cleaning agent you use, put it on and let it sit for 5 minutes to loosen up any grime.

They do pull off but they often break and they are pricey to replace.

How-to I replace facing on older whirlpool dishwasher

  • 1. Place your hands at each end of the retainer trim piece that runs along the bottom of the dishwasher door panel. The piece may be metal, black plastic or another color, depending on your dishwasher model. Lift up on the retainer section and pull it toward you to remove it. Set the retainer aside.
  • 2. Press the palms of both hands on the old facing and slide it down until the top is free. The facing flexes easily to allow you to slip it out from under the trim along each side.
  • 3. Hold the replacement door panel, or reverse the old one, so that the desired color is facing you. Turn the panel, if needed, so the dimensions line up with the dishwasher door.
  • 4. Slip the side of the facing into the left side of the frame on the dishwasher door.
  • 5. Secure the other side of the facing into the right side of the dishwasher frame by bowing the panel gently and sliding it into the frame.
  • 6. Slide the new facing up and into place so you can reposition the retainer.
  • 7.Hold the new color panel and the spacer behind it up over the lower edge of the frame about 1/4 inch.
    8. Snap the retainer into place. Push down on the horizontal piece gently to ensure it is securely connected.
  • 9. Adjust the new panel down a bit with the palms of your hands to cover the 1/4-inch space.

Door hinge sprung

From the bottom try to pull straight out and then push down. Do both the left and right sides have the issue or is it specific to one side?

Have problem with door on Frigidaire Electolux dishwasher. Door "falls open" rather than eases open.

there is a spring that connects to the side of the door (both right and left) than connects to the holes on the bottom of the dishwasher frame. These springs have either fallen off or broken. To see the area where they connect you will need to remove the very bottom panels below the door. Look at the frame where the leg height adjustment screws are and you will see several holes in the frame the springs will most likely be right there and just need to be reconnected to the frame itself. If the springs are not there then the springs will more than likely be right at the bottom left and right side of the doors. These springs should be set in the 3rd hole back from the front if the door drop is still too fast set the spring further back on the frame.

Hope this helped

I took the vapor vent cover off and can't get it on. It seems that the vent sunk into the dishwasher

The vent cover holds things together as well as acting as a cover. If it's likemine, there are screws (about 12) along inside sides and top of the door that will allow the removal of the door panel and control panel (carefully). Turn the power off as there are live bits in the panel that you can accidentally touch while holding it (sheepish grin). Then the assembly you speak of (again if it's like mine) is sitting in the door,l tied to a tube to the bottom left. Just reposition it and dial the cover into it.

Difficult to pull door open and loud click coming from left hinge

I would check for obstruction in the path of the door spring areas. If appropriate, remove the bottom access panel (typically 2 screws); open/close the door in attempt to observe the inside bottom left and right for the clicking sound.

If not already done so, also ensure your dish-washer is raised of the floor a little bit; leveled and properly secured to counter top with 2 screws.

Dishwasher problems

Can't say for certain, as you don't list a brand or model number, but most have the springs on each side of the outer tub. (you will have to pull dishwasher at least partway out of the cabinet to access them) Some have a set of springs behind the access / toe kick panel. (DW removal unnecessary for these)

Water in bottom of dishwasher

You could have a defective fill valve that is not shutting off properly. Look for a fill inlet opening somewhere on the inside casing of the wash tub. Usually it is on the left hand side of the machine looking in. While the dishwasher is sitting idle, watch the fill valve opening to see if water is leaking in. It could be a minor as just a drip. However, over a period of several hours you could end up with a wash tub full of water. Over a weekend with no one home, it could overflow onto the floor. The valve usually cannot be repaired and would require replacing. Good luck.
