The eMachines E725 has a built in switch to toggle the touchpad on or off by the touch of a button. Look at the button to the left of the main power switch. You'll notice the icon looks like a hand touching a rectangle - or touchpad. if this button is lit up, the touchpad is turned off. simply press the button to toggle the touchpad back on. The light on the button should now be off.
It's that simple. I hope this helps.
Without looking at the laptop it's difficult to diagnose the problem, but a temporary solution is to borrow/buy a cheap USB keyboard and mouse to get you up and running.
try to do system restore it might one of the windows update causes the problem, if fails check system bios compare it from the dell support site if its out dated download bios then flash.
Just check that your computer is not attacked with any virus. You can use Avira Antivir for best free antivirus. http://free-av.com and install spyware terminator for checking any spywares. If you dont have any virus or spyware then check the drivers. Just go to device manager in your system and check that drivers are installed or not. If not install it once again.
I cant give you exact solution because the question looks generic.. If any of the above is not helpful to you then please get back to me.
some laptops have a switch that turns off the touch pad (usually a button right on the topside of the touchpad)
did you reboot completely? full shutdown, then power on?
goto the device manager (with a usb mouse of course) and find the touchpad... delete the device... then reboot again it should try and find the touchpad and ask for the driver, point it to the directory that you have the driver located.
I had this problem on my Dell Inspiron 1318, so I went on to their support centre and through the Chat to a technical advisor tool, they uninstalled and reinstalled the driver which controls the touchpad and now the problem is completely gone. I suggest you contact Acer or the customer service of the company that you bought your laptop from and ask them to do something similar. I didn't even need to send my laptop back, Dell were able to take control of my laptop remotely and it only took about an hour in total. Hopefully your provider will be able to offer a similar service.
You may even be able to do this yourself if you can figure out which touchpad driver you need and look on the Acer/laptop maker website support and look at updates for drivers or downloads or something similar. Personally I found using the company's expertise much easier.
