Is anyone successfully using a dlink DI-514 with a dell axim x5 (PPC
2003 OS)?
I'm able to connect to the network (both with and without encryption),
the d-link assigns the pocket pc an IP address, but that's as far as I
can get. The pocket PC can't see the internet or the rest of the
network. I can't ping any of my other machines (on the wireless
network) from the pocket pc, and I can't ping the pocket PC from another
machine on the network.
d-link tech support says to check with dell tech support, because it's a
pocket pc problem. I think it's a d-link problem because I'm able to
connect to the internet with no problems using a netgear wireless router
and a linksys wireless router.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

every setting I've been able to find with no change in results. I have
been able to connect the pda through a netlink and a linksys wireless
router by just using the default configuration that comes up when the
PDA detects the new wireless network. I downloaded vxUtil and vxIP.
I've posted the results below. Let me know if you need more data.
Thanks
This is the information from the network card of the AXIM using vxUtil

tells me "The Page you are looking for cannot be found." I get the same
error if I type in IP or URL. I'm thinking the problem is the Router
given that I can connect to the internet through Cisco Concentrators,
Netgear router, and a neighbors un-secured linksys router.
D-Link tech support said Pocket PC used a different protocol to connect
and that's why the router won't let it talk to anything. I'm guessing
that's just the excuse they use when they can't figure out the problem.
Maybe I'll try opening up all the security on the router to see if I
can connect that way.
I'll probably just go back to bestbuy and get the Linksys and give that
one a try.
Thanks for you help.

Start (menu) | Settings | Connections (tab) | Connections (icon) | Advanced
| Select Networks |
You should see, My Work Network, and My Work Network. Tap on edit... and
Proxy Settings, and just the first item should be checked, "This network
connects to the Internet" every thing else should be blank. Tap OK | OK | OK
| X | if you needed to make any changes, soft reset now to load the changes.
Start Pocket File Explorer, and go to the /Windows folder and look for a
program called Welcome, tap on it, you'll need to go through the screen
calibration again. But this will reset some pointers and may allow you to
connect.

your network adapter here. Sounds like the Dlink is not assigning the
network correctly, or you do not have the X5 configured correctly.

Firewall on it? Does the Desktop have file and Print sharing enable, and is
it using Client for Microsoft Networks?
