The cover for the oven light has broke leaving the screw part inside cannot get it out.

If you mean the glass dome of the bulb has broken leaving only the metal bulb base, you will need a medium size long nose plier to grip the edge of the bulb base, you can then gently rotate counter clockwise to remove.
ENSURE THE APPLIANCE IS ISOLATED FROM THE MAINS SUPPLY BEFORE ATTEMPTING THIS !!! PULL THE PLUG !!!

Have a c970-440793 range. Need to replace the oven lamp light. I have the part in from Sears but there are no instructions.

Just slide the wire off of the glass lamp housing cover. It should just pop-off to the side. Then carefully remove the glass cover so as not to break it. Next, just remove the light bulb by unscrewing it counter-clockwise.

Screw in the new bulb (any small 40-watt appliance bulb will work,) hold the glass cove in place, then slide the wire back over the glass cover. The wire should be centered over the middle of the glass, towards you.

Controls, heating and turntable function normally, but there is an intermittent failure (approx 80 of the time) where the interior light and blower do not function when the microwave is operating .

follow this test and fix it; God bless you
1)

  1. Light bulbIf your microwave light bulb is not working, perhaps it has blown. The first step is to replace the bulb and power on the microwave. If this does not correct the issue, the next step is to check the socket and wiring to verify if that is the problem.
  2. Light bulb socket & main control boardIf your microwave light bulb is not working after the installation of a new bulb, check the light socket as well as the wiring to ensure they are properly operating. If these sources are functioning properly, the next step is to check for a faulty control board as a possible root cause to your microwave light bulb malfunction.
2)
  1. Exhaust fan motorIf your exhaust fan motor is not running, there are a couple of things that you can check involving the motor to locate the problem. After removing the fan motor, you can manually attempt to turn the fan blades with your hand. If the fan motor is working properly, the blades should spin effortlessly. If this does not occur and the blades are taught, the motor will need to be replaced. Secondly, the fan motor itself can burn out due to time and usage. Using an ohm meter, the exhaust fan motor should read open for continuity. If it does not, then the fan motor has expired and will need to be replaced.
  2. ThermostatAnother part that could cause the microwave exhaust fan to not work is a faulty thermostat. A thermostat gauges the air temperature, which activates the exhaust fan when required. If this part becomes flawed, the exhaust fan will not energize and the thermostat will need to be replaced.
  3. Main control boardIf your exhaust fan is still not working and the microwave fan motor, wiring, and thermostat are operating accurately, the root cause could be with the main control board. Replace the main control board.

Under microwave lights stoped working for GE JVM1660SB 005

We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid with a one year guarantee.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

This can often also affect the exhaust fan, cooling fan, turntable, and/or inside light operation, too.

Details of our service are at our Web site, along with a video showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Light bulbs in built in microwave have come apart when we tried to unscrew them for replacement. How can we get the broken end of the light bulb out of the sockets?

Most Samsung microwaves use a bulb and bracket assembly that is meant to be replaced as a unit, not disassembled (see image). If the bulb base was secured using epoxy or some other means, it may not be possible to remove without damaging the bracket.

That said, you can try traditional methods for removing broken light bulb bases. Remember to always unplug the fixture/appliance, or shut off and mark the breaker serving it, before working.

A cut potato or carrot can sometimes be pushed onto the broken glass left in the base, to provide a handle for unscrewing the base. On smaller bulbs, I have successfully used the eraser on the end of a pencil.

If the bulb was really stubborn, I would probably try filling the base with a hot glue gun, then pushing a screwdriver into the soft glue. Once the glue hardens, turning the screwdriver should unscrew the bulb base (if it is at all possible).

As you may have discovered, pliers and the like tend to just break off small pieces of the broken glass bulb.

BROKEN GLASS COVER UNDER NIGHT LIGHT

SAME PROBLEM FOR ME...I REMOVED THE BOTTOM COVER AND FOUND THAT ONE LIGHT WAS NOT FIXED AND WAS LOOSE AND WAS TOUCHING THE GLASS. THIS HEAT WAS WHAT BROKE THE GLASS COVER. CLOSED INSPECTION SHOWED THE LIGHT SOCKET WAS TOO LARGE FOR THE CLIPS AND WERE NOT SECURED WHEN PURCHASED. I GOT SMALL SCREW AND NUT, BENT CLIPS SO THE SOCKET HOLE MATCHED THE HOLE MADE BY THE CLIP AND SECURELY ATTACHED THE SOCKET. THIS WILL SECURE THE LIGHT AND KEEP IT FROM TOUCHING THE GLASS..........IF I CAN EVER FIND A GLASS REPLACEMENT....MAY JUST HAVE ONE CUT. NOW THE PROBLEM IS TO REPLACE THE LIGHT AND MICROWAVE FUSE WHICH WAS BLOWN WHEN THE GLASS BROKE.

Magic Chef mco153ubf

I had the same problem. My Magic Chef, MCO153UBF Microwave had similar problems. The Magnatron, Cooling fan, Turn table and under hood lights were not working at all after hearing a pop sound under the control panel. Thought it was the fuse but the fuse was fine after testing and replacing. I checked the circuit breaker wired to my house and saw it had a break to my kitchen outlets so i flipped the switch to get back the kitchen outlets. Then I checked the microwaves Control Panel ( Printed Circuit Board) underneath and saw to traces were burnt. I soldered the two trace lines and the fixed the problem.

Glass Surface Light Lens Cracks from Halogen lights use

The lights do get very hot, so they must be a sufficient distance from the lens. Was there an instruction sheet with the new lens? You may need to adjust the sockets upward. You might call a local GE-authorized servicer to see. Concerning the vent fan, this is a problem with the control panel assembly, which we repair nationwide for $39.95. Details are at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk
