Psp broken off/ on switch

Hi
My son dropped his psp while switched on and it landed on its on /off switch. The psp stayed on after impact. to turn off i removed the battery.
On internal inspection i found he had broken the internal switch tab on the pcb board. I replaced the pcb with a new one from ebay but it will not start up or the charging light will not come on.

Many thanks

Hello Andy,

Have you checked that you have not accidently shorted any tracks also as the tracks are so fine has any more damage to the board been caused by the impact?

I dropped my psp and it broke and won't turn on. I

Something more than likely chipped off/broke from the impact of the drop. Have you tried opening the PSP? *Note - opening your PSP will void your warranty.

My son dropped his psp and the power won't turn off.

It is possible that he damaged the power switch or dislocated a switch button that pushed the main switch soldered to the motherboard.
My suggestion is to remove the battery. Open it up align the power switch back and put it back again.
This voids your warranty but it is the only way to solve this problem.

Ok,I dropped my PSP and evertime I turn it on,it goes to the "Sony Entertainment"thing, then goes to the moving wave background and stays that way.I have to remove the battery to turn it off.

Hi,

Pull out the battery again and before you put it back on press and hold the select button. While holding the select button, go ahead and turn it on. Still hold the select button say 45 seconds after switching on.

PSP wifi switch broken

Inside the PSP the switch has a small pin that engages with the switch. Likely this pin has broken, or has become disengaged with the switch inside the PSP. Take the back off the units and have a look... be careful and make sure you note where each screw goes.. and reassemble the same way- its not hard..
Good Luck

When the football hit the psp, it could have knocked some hardware out of place, possibly on the motherboard. If you know what you are doing, you could open up the PSP and re attach the piece, or find someone who knows how to fix it.

Oops,... i dropped my psp

Hey Dude,

All things are fixable. Try going into recovery mode. This is done by Pressing and holding the R button when powering up the PSP. You then can press the brightness control button to see the firmware. This might help you reboot the PSP. If it is worst than this, you may consoder sending it back to Sony for repair, although they usually do not want to fix a Squooshed PSP. I would not tell them you Sat on it. You can call SONY support at 1-800-345-7669.
If you cannot get them to Repair it, you can check out my website, www.Playstationclinic.com . I can fix it for a very reasonable price.
