Now a days you cant really put the cables in wrong becasue they only fit a certain way. but be sure its plugged into the IDE 2 slot on the board and isnt connected on the same ribbon as the HDD. Now it may be a frimware issue, check the website for updates and make sure you have all the driver updates for your Mainboard also. also check the bios to be sure its not turned off, not likely but check anyways.

If you have only one CD/DVD drive, set the jumper to MASTER since its the only one, Or you could set it to CABLE SELECT. And be sure that the IDE cable thats plugged in coresponds to the jumper. I.E. IDE's Master connector is plugged in if the jumper is set to master on the CD/DVD drive. Some mainboards are picky.

If you can see the drive then all your connections is fine. I think the culprit is your dvdr disc.Try to use any good disc and see whether it can read or not.

Can you see this drive in the BIOS, My Computer or Device Manager?
If not, you need to re-check the cables. If so, it may be defective.

Insert a normal cd and see wether it can read or not, if it display the same message that means your drive is not recognizing the cd, or dvd, reason lens of your cd/dvd unable to read, or your cd/dvd is bad.

Computer does not seem to recognise disc. I keep

Hello !

Either your disk or disk drive is problematic.

Try your disk in another PC to test. If the disk works, your CD drive is faulty. Try another disk in your computer's drive. If the disk doesn't work, you have confirmed that the drive is faulty.

If the drive is a problem, I would suggest to purchase a disk head cleaner, first. Then, if the drive is still a problem, it would need replacing.

Hope this helps.

The electronic procedure:
Switch off the unit at the wall plug. On the front panel, hold in the <RECORD> and <EJECT> buttons at the same time, and keeping them held, switch on the power at the wall again. Keep holding the buttons until the disc tray opens.

Pioneer dvd-rw dvr-

Hi,
have you connected the 4 pin molex plug from the computer mainboard to the drive ?
is the IDE Cable correctly fitted ?
did you set the jumper connector on the rear of the drive to Master Or Slave ? if you are sharing the cable with a hard-drive, and the hard-drive jumper is set to slave, then the dvd will have to be set As Master ( otherwise they conflict ) or only 1 device will be recognised.
This should Solve your problem here.
