I am confused that my laptop is damaged

Please since i started using acer5630 i haven't encounter any problem untill recently my usb port seems not to recognise any pendrive or usb port.please i need you to help me solve this problem since i cant even copy things on my pendrive for my research

    i have tried the device maneger for the universal serial bus controller but still the problem persist.but the device maneger proves that the device is working properly and there is no yellow indication on it.i have tried different pendrives but still the problem still persist.please what do u suggest i do since my laptop seems to be problem free.i really really need help since i don't know what to do now.if u can connect my laptop and service it through the net since u are the expect for acer laptops.thanks for your suggestion. i really appreciate it.

    i appreciate all your comments but still the problem dey.how do i download the motherboard drivers and again dont you think it could be a power serge problem if so then what do you suggest.reeaaallly need help

    This sounds like a common problem I have run across several times, but to be sure, I would like to know all your drive letters currently in use on your laptop (IE c: hardrive, d: cdrom, e: network drive (if applicable)) before I will even suggest the fix for this problem, as this case may not be what I am currently thinking.

First of all, we are NOT hackers. Don't know where you got that idea, but I myself find it rather repulsive. The problem may lie in the fact your computer may be mapping your USB PenDrive the same as another drive on your computer, making it inaccessable. Now, I requested more information so that I could better assist, but you failed to provide what I asked for. To find out if your computer is dual-mapping a drive letter, you need to access Control Panels -> Adminstrative Tools -> Computer Management, and select the Disk Management at the bottom. You should be able to find the PenDrive in the Bottom Right pane, right click it, select 'Chage Drive Letter' and select an unused drive letter (perhaps M:). If that is the problem, that right there will fix it for you.

I thank you very much for always trying to help solve my problem.but i will never stop complaining until my problem is solved.so please i have tried all the suggestion you gave me but all proved futile.i dont know whether it is a problem of a power serge.if so what suggestion can you give Mr wizard

Click on start, control panel, then double click system
Next click on the hardware table, then device manager
Click on the + next to the Universal Serial Bus controller
Click on USB Root Hub and press the Delete key (remove all USB Root Hubs then restart you computer
Once it comes back up try the USB drive again.
If this does not work then I would then check out the ACER website for laptop drives

Try re-installing the system drivers, go to the Acer Website and do a search for its drivers. Download the mainboard drivers or any drivers that may have been updated and install them and see if that doesnt get it fized. Sometimes the drivers get messed up and need to be re-installed.

Hi check your pndrive is ok or not try another pendrive or usb device to confirm that your laptop works fine if not that check for your usb drivers, goto my computer ->select my computer -> right click->properties->hardware->device manager-> check for universal serial bus controller if there is any yellow symbol or red cross mark on that that your usb port is not working check for proper drivers else your usb port on the motherboard is faulty you can't solve yourself goto to your nearest service center i hope this information help you.

    hi do have laptop drivers if yes try to reinstall them if not try download from acer website else restall operating system with restore disk if same problem goto service center.

Try a different pen drvbe to see if the problem lies with the drive.

you may need to replace the usb cord but be careful you dont damage your usb ports.


another option for you is to buy a hub which plugs into to your usb port and provided 2 or more usb ports for you to use.


this will help stop and damage to your laptop ports

My HP Deskjet F380 has the latest printing software installed; it spools and is attached to my laptop in the correct USB port; but it doesn't print. The message is "no connection." It printed...


Verify that the USB connection is fully inserted in the back of the printer itself. If all is well there, try to think if you've run any updates on your laptop recently, or installed any new software that could be conflicting. If yes, try removing the new software or recent updates, and try a test print. If this still does not work, try disconnecting the printer, powering down your machine, starting it back up and then reconnecting the printer to the USB port. Sometimes you have have a glitch in the USB port that causes your computer to stop recognizing a device seemingly out of nowhere. If none of the above seems to help, it might be as simple as a USB cable that's become faulty. Hope this helps!

Hardware problem - not booting into windows


One of your usb ports is either damaged or has an object stuck in it causing a short. Unplug all usb devices and look at each port. Note if one looks slightly different from the others. There is a plastic tab that fits into usb plugs. If this tab is bent and touches the side of the port, it can cause the short. If this is the case you may be able to either clean out or bend back the bent tab.

Hardware problem - not booting into windows

If you have a VISTA DVD, please insert it, and use the BIOS to boot through your CD.
Then, when the VISTA installation comes up, press repair. Restart, and try again. Please report back.

USB not working


1. Start Device Manager.
2. On the Action menu, click Scan for New Hardware.
If this does not resolve the issue, you have to restart the computer. In some cases you must use Device Manager to disable then re-enable the device to get it to recover from this unresponsive condition

OR
if its phyiscally damaged
you can just by a pci usb card for pretty cheap and just have more ports
