Alpine cde 9852

Hi i have brought the Soundstream sst6.6 tarantula 2 way speakers and they are 3 ohm. On my pioneer head unit it says nothing under 4 ohms can be run off deck, but i have a Alpine cde 9852 but i have lost the owners manual and dont know if i can run the speakers off it. I do have an amp coming to run them but it will be a while before i get it.

Bozo21- Yes in fact you can run the speakers, most speakers dont run the actual load rated. An 8ohm speaker for example may check at 6 or 10 ohm. Also the speaker wire you are using will add to the ohms. cooltekMar,4/08

In actuality the resistance of the speaker depends on the frequency the speaker is playing. For example, a speaker may have a 3 ohm resistance at 80 Hz and a 9 ohm resistance at 300 Hz. If you were to make a plot of resistance versus frequency you would get what is called the impedance curve of the speaker. Also, speakers act in some ways as inductors and capacitors so a true model of a speaker must include those components as well. How does this affect the sound you ask? Well if you have an amp that has very weak current capability it may work fine into perfect 4 ohm loads but when you connect our real speaker which has an impedance dip at 80 Hz the amp may have difficulty and smear sounds that have 80 Hz components. These are minor but audible effects. This is why it is good to get a 2 ohm stable amp even if you never plan on running 2 ohm loads.

Is 1998 taurus compatible with alpine cde-9852

Hello, you can install this head unit into the taurus as long as you are confident in wiring the unit in yourself. the colour wires from the car WILL NOT match the colours from the CD player, although a experienced installer will be able to splice the wires together in the orrect way to make it work!
I hope this helpsRegardsGrant

Subwoofer for alpine cde-9843

In short, no.

The CDE-9843 cannot drive a sub of the type you mention without an amp, but you can fit a sub with it's own built-in amp.

As standard, the head unit has a basic in-built amp supplying 4 x 16w RMS at 4ohms but there is the facility via the unit's own menu to turn off the in built amp and use the output sockets as a pre-amp feed, but in reality if you want to drive an amp you'd be better off to start with a more highly specified head unit to begin with, even the next model up, the CDE-9845 is better suited as there are pre-outs for front and rear speakers.

Very easily, just pull the head unit out. Plug the adapter into the round receptacle, run your cable to a convienient place and plug your Ipod in, switch the source to ipod and listen away. Good luck
