DS LITE SLOT 1 HAS DISLODGED OR SLIPPED

I have a ds lite, slot 2 works fine, but slot one doesnt recognise any cartridges that have been inserted. Today I tried turning it on whilst holding the cartiridge in like when you push it in to release it, i just held it in, and the ds saw the game, started to boot it up and worked great, only i couldnt keep holding the cartridge there i had to leave it go and then the ds couldnt see it again...

Its as if slot 1 has moved a few mm backwards into the ds and when you insert a cartirdge it doesnt quite touch the pins to read it,

how on earth can this be fixed ? has anyone ever come across this ? can a repair shop fix this ? could i if i open it up ?

just to add, when i look down into slot one, it appears to be in the same place it always has been, comparing it to my daughters ds the slot looks exactly the same, the pins are also fine not bent or anything, except the cartirdge can only be read when pushed down tight and held into slot 1.. why would this happen ?

You might be able to fix this your self. You will need to solder some of the connections.First thing you need is a tri wing screwdriver you can get one on eBay for two dollars.their are seven screws holding the back on 4 tri wing and three cross.Be very care full not to break off the on off switch so when you go to open it start with the side that doesn't have the switch. Then once you get the back off you will have two more cross screws on the mother board so you can flip over the mother board and see the ds game card slot and if it is damaged or if one of the connection is broke but you cant see in side the slot.Nintendo will fix it for you but might be 60 or 70 dollars their are also people on eBay that will fix for a little less

My nintendo ds wont load any games. it comes up as no game inseted. evrything els is working fine.

To owner of question, you will have to clean out the DS Lite Cartridge Slot since there must be too much corrosion on the pins or dust inside the Cartridge Slot. Try using rubbing alcohol and a q-tip to clean the inside of it. Then use a dry q-tip to dry the rubbing alcohol. To Guest - If you open up the DS Lite, you will see that the cartridge slot is covered with metal. You can't get into it without breaking it apart. Your best bet is to buy a replacement Cartridge Slot off of Ebay, desolder the old one, and then solder the new one on.

If you are using R4, you should put the game in the slot then start the ds, otherwise it won't work. That all i know lol!!

Broken ds lite. the games were inserted into slot 1 the wrong way round. the pins are bent.

The part with the damaged pins is the slot-1 port. I know it seems rediculous, but this part is too impractical for most people to attempt a repair.

However, if you are savvy enough to attempt the repair of the damaged pins on your DS Lite, here are my recommendations:
1) Cut a flap in the slot-1 port cover and straighten pins.
2) Replace the main board.
3) Remove the slot-1 port cover and straighten pins.
4) Remove the damaged pins from the slot-1 port and straighten.
5) Replace the slot-1 port.

All of these recommendations require disassembling the DS Lite using a specialized triwing (or Y) screwdriver and a lot of patience. The following video will help in disassembly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQlTpTLUyFQ.

Recommendations 3 to 5 all require solder work. Recommendation 3 requires solder work for 4 solder joints, 1 at each corner. Recommendation 4 requires solder work for up to 17 solder joints, one for each damaged pin. Recommendation 5 requires solder work for all 21 solder joints.

a wire is probably misplaced.I recommend getting professional help or unscrew your ds and fixing the problem.
