I have a ds lite, slot 2 works fine, but slot one doesnt recognise any cartridges that have been inserted. Today I tried turning it on whilst holding the cartiridge in like when you push it in to release it, i just held it in, and the ds saw the game, started to boot it up and worked great, only i couldnt keep holding the cartridge there i had to leave it go and then the ds couldnt see it again...
Its as if slot 1 has moved a few mm backwards into the ds and when you insert a cartirdge it doesnt quite touch the pins to read it,
how on earth can this be fixed ? has anyone ever come across this ? can a repair shop fix this ? could i if i open it up ?
You might be able to fix this your self. You will need to solder some of the connections.First thing you need is a tri wing screwdriver you can get one on eBay for two dollars.their are seven screws holding the back on 4 tri wing and three cross.Be very care full not to break off the on off switch so when you go to open it start with the side that doesn't have the switch. Then once you get the back off you will have two more cross screws on the mother board so you can flip over the mother board and see the ds game card slot and if it is damaged or if one of the connection is broke but you cant see in side the slot.Nintendo will fix it for you but might be 60 or 70 dollars their are also people on eBay that will fix for a little less

just to add, when i look down into slot one, it appears to be in the same place it always has been, comparing it to my daughters ds the slot looks exactly the same, the pins are also fine not bent or anything, except the cartirdge can only be read when pushed down tight and held into slot 1.. why would this happen ?
