will play sound on cd but not dvd

Check:
1. Volume in control pannel. It could be muted! Some DVDs do that.
2. Sound driver integrity
3. Does sound come from other type of media?
4. check DVD to Sound port cable inside the computer case if a desktop.

Let us know what you have found, okay

Okay, let's focus on your DVD decoding software next. The DVD media control may have builtin toggle volume control, you know, like a little control deck with play, pause, stop, advance, << >>, II, + Volume and - Volume. Have you adjusted this?

DVD in my computer will show video but no sound. Will play CD with sound.

If CD plays fine but DVD doesn't then probably it's the DVD that has a problem and not the computer. Does that happen with all your DVDs?

I Discribed the Problem It would appear liteon gives **** poor Service

Don't install that software.

Instead, access: http://www.MajorGeeks.com
and search for "AShampoo Burning 6" software.

Download this _FREE_ software for creating/burning CD/DVD disks.

Install it, and use it on your LITE-ON burner.

Making DVD so that it can be played in DVD PLayer

Hi

Yes Nero will do that but you should have full version of NERO to write it as video DVD and select the speed as minimum that will play in your external DVD player

Thanks

DVD Sound Missing

Hello folks,
If you install another program like Nero xxx. Nero adds or can take away window media player's format from playing certain codec’s. Any program installed like burner software can do the same. This is a software issue. To help fix it download & install codec's from this site. This should help to regain sound for DVD formats.
http://www.free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Codec_Pack_download.htm
Free download.
Other items. Some PC's can loose DVD sound in windows media player 11. Check that you're version of windows is up to date. Last ditch effort. Insert the DVD & open windows explorer. Right click on the DVD drive & see what the format is. (Ex: ***.vob, ***.mp4, ***.divx). Than search either Microsoft or Google for the matching codec's. Download & install it from the web.
Suggestion. Use only one playback software program. Bouncing between programs is not suggested. Find which looks & sound best for you & uninstall the others if not needed.
If by chance non of the above has helped or fixed this issue, please list the program you are using to play DVD's & the format of the DVD.

Good luck all!

Mike

I need more information. Which operating system are you running, what computer do you have? Did the sound ever work, and if so, what did you install that stopped it from working?

No Sound when I play a DVD, but I do have sound when I play a Music CD

Are you sure your player has got the right codecs to play both audio and video of the DVD you have burnt?

PS: Try installing the Ace Mega Codecs Pack just to make sure you have all the codecs. (Remember though that this software will install all the required codecs as well as the unneeded ones...the ones maybe required in the future probably)

Did you check the jumper settings for correct positions? Sometimes the 5V regulator IC is the culprit. I have seen it many times
