Question about Apple iPod touch

1 Answer

White Screen I had my ipod touch barely a week. I was storing some contacts information when it happened. It just blinked for a whilst i was typing then it didn't stop. I tried to powercycle it then the worse happened, 90% of the screen went white and only the clock part isn't affected. I tried plugging my ipod touch to my computer and opened the web based apps iphone fixel fix by knox (http://www.ebaspace.com/iphone-app/#test) but it doesn't seem to work, I even tried to rub the affected area but still no luck.

Ipod froze

A white screen on an iPod Touch is the sign of a generic error, meaning you won't get a specific error message. Usually when this happens the white screen won't change and the iPod is frozen on that screen. Apple Support outlines a specific series of steps to take to deal with this problem, from turning the iPod Touch off to completely reinstalling the operating system if necessary.

What the White Screen Means The white screen is a sign that a software error has occurred in the iPod Touch. Unless you received an error message first, it's usually something near the root level of the iPod's operating system that caused the iPod to cease functioning normally. Rather than shut off completely, it goes to this white screen to let you know there's been an error. Unfortunately you usually lose unsaved information when this occurs. b> Resetting b> Try turning the iPod Touch off, then on again. This is the simplest way to reset your iPod Touch. If it remains stuck on the white screen, force a reset by holding down the Sleep button (top right corner) for about 10 seconds. The screen will go dark, then the Apple logo will appear. If it turns off and doesn't turn on again, the battery may be too low. b> Restore b> If a manual reset doesn't work and the screen remains stuck on a white screen, you'll need to restore the iPod to reinstall its operating system. Plug your iPod, via its charger cable, into your computer. Open iTunes and click on your iPod, then the "Restore" button on the main screen. b> Problematic Apps b> If you consistently receive a white screen while using a particular app, the app may be faulty or installed incorrectly. Try re-syncing the app to your iPod Touch and see if that solves the problem. Otherwise, you may need to delete the app to avoid the white screen problem.

The touch screen on my ipod touch is non responsive please help

Hi dballd,

generally the ipod touch will only respond to a finger moving across the screen.

Your problem however is a known hardware fault. Take it back to the store you purchased it from or preferably an apple retail store, and they should replace it for you on the spot. Just inform them that you have updated and restored the firmware several times.

It must be under warranty though. You have one year from the purchase date, unless you also purchased applecare.

My ipod just flashes a white screen, i have tryed pressing the off and hold button for 30 seconds, but the same white screen continues to flash up ?

this is a defect that has been occuring more and more with touch's across the world. apple has recognized this issue and they are providing replacement ipod's for those that are still under warranty. I would suggest contacting either the retailer or the manufacturer and informing them. downside is you have to make an appt. either at an applke store or with a technical support technician for your ipod. they are the only ones that can authorize a warranty exchange and trust me this issue does qualify. anyways hope this helps ya out.

Ipod Touch Home Button

This usually happens if the membrane of the sleep/wake button deteriorates and the gold plated contacts between membrane and logic board do no longer establish good contact.
There are specialized online tutorials with iPod Repair instructions that will guide you through the steps of taking it apart and reinforcing the contact or replacing the button altogether otherwise you'll have to send it to any third party iPod repair service and they'll replace the membrane for you.
