Wool sweater got washed and washer stopped before "spin" - has 6" of water still in it - and will now not work. Is it just clogged? You can hear the hum of the motor but nothing happens.

Very helpful. I forgot to say that it's a KitchenAid Washer. If you have any further advice, I'd really appreciate it.

More than likely you broke a belt or a drive coupling. If it is a Frigidaire, Roper, most Maytags, etc it is a belt. If it is a Kenmore, Whirlpool, or a few others made by Whirlpool, it is a drive coupling. Directions for belt change varies. Directions for changing a drive coupling can be found in the one tip I wrote. Search my tips and you'll find detailed instructions for changing it on a Whirlpool or Kenmore. Good luck.

I'm pretty sure that is a Whirpool made machine. Bail the water out so you can tilt it back and change the coupling. The tip I wrote should give you detailed enough instructions. Good luck.

How much water do I use when using a front loader say 5 items of clothes with 3 large towels and two sweater

many front loader washing machines don't have different water level options since they cycle the water differently than the "tub-o-soap" upright washers. The best answer I can give, if there are different fill settings, is to put the laundry in the machine and see how full it looks. Err on the side of overfilling, since the towels will soak up a lot of the water, and unless the sweaters are delicate or inclined to stretch out badly, I'd opt for an extra spin cycle to get rid of the excess water soaked up by the towels and sweaters.

Epic washer doesn't spin fast. spins, but slowly. clothes coming out wet, very wet. it started after i washed a heavy wool sweater.

Check the filter, make sure rinse hold is not on, check the drain hose is not blocked, lastly check the brushes, remmember unplug first.

Few12 will not spin after washing, any ideas

Had the same problem. Removed the kick plate at front and unscrewed filter. In the filter recess I found a cotton wool bud. Appeared to have stopped the blade like fan spinning which appears to push the water into the drain hose. Works perfectly now.

Won't spin

Jessi, you need to call for factory service so you wont void the warranty. A couple of things could be going on here. The filter before the drain pump could be clogged with stuff preventing a high spin. Pressure switch wont allow a high spin if it detects water in the tub. The main control and motor control talk to each other and controls the spin. There could be a loose harness or poor connection at one of the boards. I would call for service, it won't cost you a cent...Catriver..post back.
