I would try downloading the USB driver from magellan (if they offer it).  You may also be able to get the driver from C-Map USA as the do the map software for magellan.

SOURCE: Computer does not recognize it

assuming your using a windows xp or 2000 os, try another cable if you have one..turn the gps off, plug in the usb cord and restart the gps. if that fails, if the cable is connected to a port on the front of the computer, move the usb cable to a rear port on the computer and try the previous way i just explained.

if those fail, disconnect all usb devises connected to the pc and restart the computer and try again. (always use a rear port on the pc if you can)

good luck

Two things; (1) Where can I get map updates? (2) I'd like to run a program called XC Soar, a flight computer program on my 2200T but it doesn't seem to be compatable. Any suggestions?

You'll more than likely have to purchase an update software for your GPS system or even try using the disk that came with your unit if applicable. If not you could always connect your unit to a computer to see if updates will install or refer the manual which came with your unit. Last resort try calling the company to see if you can get any info.

hi joshnvince

you need to have it hooked up to XP service pack 2 or above or the computer
wont see it. if your running XP or better, try a different USB port, preferably one on the
back of the computer.

let me know if you need more help or info

How do I 'update' my Magellan to current abilities

do you want to update the firmware or the maps..the firmware is free but the map update is about 80.00 ..thats double of what the 2200t are selling for...

never the less, you can get either updates HERE just follow the instructions to the letter or you may render your 2200t inoperable if you fail to allow the update to complete or possible by trying to update it with a half charged battery...make sure its either plugged in to power or the battery is fully charged..

P.S. the update is for the north american version, if you need one for another country, id be happy to get you the direct link to there download page. you will also have to register on the magellan site before they will let you download any updated.

good luck, let me know if you need more help.

Magellan roadmate 2000 no power

the following advice pertains to the following magellan gps systems.

Magellan 800, 860, 2000, 2200t, 2500, 3000, 3050, 3100, 3140, 4000, 4040, 4050 and 6000t

i fix these and many other magellan gps daily so when considering my advice , please understand i do not google my solutions.

assuming your car charger is working (the little green light is on) and your magellan still wont start up after holding the power button while its plugged in for up to ten seconds and still does not start..read below

this is actually a very common problem with these magellan power ports...they are poor quality from the factory and always and i mean always fail..the new ports that you find on ebay are 100% better then the factory port.

if your able to replace that power port yourself, you can get one HERE, if not, ask the fellow that sells them for help.

due to some dubious "experts" on fixya, im not permitted to help you directly, but please follow the link above to get further help.

let me know if you need more help or info

Magellan Maestro 4000

hi scott,

i might not understand what your asking, but if vista is listing the tfat and the sd card slot, then it is being recognized...thats what its suppose to do.

with the gps on and booted, once you plug in the usb cord, the hardware wizard should pop up and install it, then youll see it listed as tfat in your computer.

if im missing your ? please post back so i can help you further.
