Question about GE 28128EE2 Phone

Initializing Hi there. I have this problem that when there are incoming calls both hand stations say "initializing" and you cannot "answer" the incoming call. I have power cycled all the phones including the base and the problem has not been fixed yet. Any ideas or any help? Please email me at marsolek84@yahoo.com Thanks Matt

I am having similar problem with my phones in that when my phones ring they often say "initializing" then seem to die for a few seconds before coming back and allowing me to answer the phone. However, many times by the time the phone resets the call has gone to voicemail or is lost. I called Thomson and they told me to send them back and I would receive replacements within 4-6 weeks. Problem is these are my only hme phones. Thomson should send replacement prior to me having to send in mine. I am waiiting to speak to supervisor on this point.

The hand-sets are not registered with the base-station. Reset system by: remove batteries, unplug base station, disconnect batteries in all hand sets. Wait 15 minutes. Reinstall batteries in hand sets. Reinstall batteries in base station, plug base station in. Place each hand set in the base station until it automatically registers (usually immediately, or within 1 minute or so).

If that doesn't fix the problem, if possible, return the system to where you bought it for exchange or refund. If that isn't an option, call Thompson help line. They are not particularly knowledgeable, but will authorize a return to the a repair center. The process is slow...

My experience: The two hand sets that came with my system worked perfectly, but none of the three additional handsets I purchased would register. The three additional handsets I purchased were the last three on the my retailer's shelf, so, retail exchange wasn't an option. I contacted Thompson and they authorized return for repair or replacement. The repair center received my handsets on October 29, 2008. Its now November 27, 2008 and I'm still waiting.

I can make calls but phone doe not ring

You said "it seems to ring once then stops." One possible cause of what you're describing is called a "Ring Trip." It is characterized when the button that flashes to indicate an incoming call changes to steady red (which would normally indicate the call is answered) although no one actually answered the call. If that occurs, then you have to test to see whether you can tell where the problem is coming from. If you unplug all the phones, you can then call in (from a cell phone or other phone that's not part of the system) and see if the incoming call rings unanswered, as it should when no phones are attached. If all rings in OK, plug just one phone in at a time and call in to see if any particular phone causes the problem. If one causes the ring trip, then disconnect that broken phone. If ringing still stops when no phones are attached, you'll have to disconnect the phones' connection wires (Station Wires) at the phone system box that plug into the "Station Ports" (label them before you unplug any!). Do not unplug the plugs for the wires that feed phone company lines into the phone system, the jacks are called CO line ports. With the "Station" wires unplugged, see if If all rings in OK by calling in from a cell phone or other phone that's not part of the system. If all rings in OK, plug just one station wire in at a time to see if one causes the problem. If one station wire causes the ring trip, then disconnect that troublesome wire and inspect its "system box jack" and its phone jack for water damage, carpet cleaning solvent, exterminator spray or any other corrosive liquid damage. Sometimes a staple through a wire where there's humidity can cause the problem. This process will find the offending wire, jack or phone that causes a "Ring Trip." There are many other possibilities, but the extremely limited description you've provided "it seems to ring once then stops." doesn't help me send you a better answer yet.

Looks like you can group the stations together and then any one of them can answer incoming calls. See page 45 or so.

How to transfer a call

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, your concern could be:
  • call conferencing, where in you will call somebody to join a current call; or
  • call forwarding wherein your incoming calls are re-directed to another number
If you can post back the specific model number, then we can probably come up with more detailed assistance.

Hope this be of initial help/idea, do postback here how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Incoming calls to office cause all phones to ring in classrooms

Changing ringing on a Partner system is done on either ext 10 or 11.
At one of those ext's press the feature key and "00"
Next press the left hand intercom twice
The display should say system programming

Press the right hand intercom once. The display should say Centralized Programming.

Enter in the extension number that you want to program.

Press the line that you want to ring.
A solid light on the line means immediate ringing
A slow flashing light means delayed ringing (meaning the phone will wait 3 rings before starting to ring.)
A fast flashing light means no ringing.

When finished with that station press the right hand intercom and enter in the next extension to program and set ringing accordingly.

Press feature "00" to logout
Hope that helps
