I have a TV with a USB type 'B' female socket on it, labelled as 'software update terminal'. It's exactly the same connection as on the back of my printer. (Note this is NOT the USB socket type 'A' that is actually on a computer). So assuming that I could get an updated firmware file, how would I upload it to the TV ? A thumb-drive won't work, as they are USB type 'A'. I'm interested in the method - actually getting the firmware itself is a separate issue. Thanks !

The Firmware softwares upgraded to the main frame CPU chip it take about 20-25 mins.Best way it is to download the Firmware softwares to a memory stick.Than stick it into the tv USB port to upload to the tv.Because download directly from the net it is dangerous any interuption of the flow of the data's to the tv and cause a mishap to the tv main frame CPU chip, than the CPU chip is a paper weight scrap CPU silicon chip.Than the board is dead and will not take in the incomming broadcasting tv signal and produce a picture for ur tv.
unfortunatly, that's ususally a sign that the panel is going. If the model of tv that you have allows firmware upgrades (would require a usb thumb drive), you can try updating the firmware. Go to the company website, and look for support. You might be able to download updated firmware onto the thumb drive, and plug it into the tv. when you turn the tv back on again, it will update the software on the tv.
You will need a USB port or SD Card reader on the TV set in order to update the TV's Firmware. (note: some TV manufactures specify what types of memory are compatible with their TV sets i.e. magic gate, etc.)
Use the appropriate storage device for your TV set and go to:
