Ice build on the freezer box floor or White frost build up on the freezer box back wall (inside). Ice layer on floor means your drain line blocked. White frost layer means your machine is not going into defrost cycle.
Watch to see if 1) the water dispenser freezes 2) if you end up with ice build up. What you might have heard was a heater element pop. If that is what happened, then the cooling coils will freeze, no air will flow through the coils, and the freezer will not get very cold. If you can find a diagram of your unit, it may be worth taking a look to determine if the heater element is ok and/or if the cooling coils are packed with ice.
Sounds like the drainage hole is blocked with ice, i normally take the back cover off the freezer and at the bottom you will see a build up of ice at the bottom, turn freezer off and carefully remove as much ice as you can, then pour some boiling water over the excess ice and in the middle you will see a drain hole make sure water then freely flows down drain hole. Other than that you could try switching your freezer off for 24 hours to clear ice.
Your defrost drain line is frozen over.Remove everything from the fridge and turn it off for 24 hours with the doors standing open.
The drain line will thaw and you will return to normal operation.
You could also turn the fridge off, remove the freezer floor panel and back panel. Take a hair dryer and thaw out the drain hole. Takes about 2 hours.
You decide which procedure to use.
This just happened to me. take the panel off inside of freezer and you will see the evaporator fan this could be the problem. test it before placing. Also there is a thermostat in there too. A little round device that will kick the fan on when the temp is around 34. Both parts together are about 90 bucks if you get them yourself online. About 170. through a dealer.
