Sorry for jerks like the previous guy ..... if you have windows XP (service pack 2) just plug in to a USB slot.. you should get a "New device" or "installing new device" if it the 1st time plugging it in. Open Windows Media and there should be a Sync tab. click this and it will open the Pearl player.. it will show what you have in there (if any music is already on player) You can now drag any music on windows media player to the Pearl.... write back if any more questions... When my computer stopped recognizing my RCA Pearl, I was able to fix the firmware inside the mp3 player even though the computer didn't seem to think it was there.

You mentioned you tried to reinstall the software, & got nothing, but I will walk you through reinstalling the firmware on your player as this is the most likely fix.

You can download the RCA TH1102 software here:

When you start this program, a windows pops up with troubleshooting instructions are the bottom. You can read them, but I will also take you through the steps.

  1. start the program,
  2. remove the battery from the TH1102 & wait at least 10 secs,
  3. hold the play button while plugging into usb,
  4. release the play button the the term "initalizing" replaces "searching",
  5. click the start button to replace the firmware.
Hope that helps.

How to Fix Your RCA Pearl TH1602 MP3 Player from Freezing at Startup

423a6d4.jpg
Does your RCA Pearl TH1062 MP3 player freeze on startup at the Pearl logo?

Whenever your player acts up, the best solution is to reflash/upgrade the firmware.

Download the firmware upgrade from http://voxrightnow.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2243/related/1, and follow all the troubleshooting instructions that popup when you start the program:

  1. start the program,
  2. remove the battery,
  3. hold the play button while plugging the RCA player into your computer's usb port,
  4. release the play button when the term "initalizing" replaces "searching",
  5. check the box that says "format data" (you can try it first without this checked, it may work and will save your music),
  6. click the start button to replace the firmware.

This solution will fix your player.
I hope that helps.

Computer not recongize the rca th1602 mp3 player

The first time I tried to restore the firmware in my Pearl it would not recognize it. I had to follow all the troubleshooting instructions that popup when you run the software. Basically, try taking the battery out and waiting 10 seconds or so. Run the software and read all the instructions at the bottom of the popup window. then hold the play button, plug your player in, and keep holding that button until the software recognizes it. It works.

RCA Pearl won't play artist after the letter L

If you used the 2.0 version firmware this should restore the firmware and you would need to reload the music files. Not sure if there is a master reset or clear but if there is, do it then reload the firmware and reload the music files. Make sure that all the files you are putting on are ok.

This is all I see, it is listed under update but this is not an update, this is the firmware that runs the player,so make sure that you are installing it the exact way that any instructions say.

My computer won't read my RCA lyra opal mp3 player. Please help!!!!!

i think the one causes it is the improper unplugging of your son maybe the program of your mp3 player was corrupted.
You try to plug it on your pc then try to check if your pc detects it. if its detected try to check it on your mp3 player application and see if theres a repair function on it, if not, well you better look for a function that formats your mp3 player
