Question about Standard (CRT) Televisions
Tv was moved across the living room now the picture is all
wavy the remote wont work none of the buttons will work
the volume is is very loud and wont turn down.
You more than likely have a cold solder joint, and moving the tv caused the hair line joint to crack open just enough to prevent current from flowing. But before you start soldering, give it a good inspection inside for a loose connector and/or wire. If no luck, take a solder gun and lightly hit the largest joints first, which are part of the largest component on the circuit board. It has a thick red wire coming out of it that goes to the tube. (Do NOT touch this red wire or disconnect it from the tube. It can still shock you, EVEN WITH THE TV OFF. This is a very high voltage with low current and probabliy will not kill you, but it will hurt very badly, so just be careful and stay away from the big red wire coming out of the tube.) Then resolder all the larger chips, transistors, and capacitors. If still no luck, then resolder the hundreds of smaller joints.
