Question about Philips PCRW (PCRW404) CD-RW Burner

1 Answer

Phillips Cd Burner Issue

I cannot seem to get a driver for my CD Burner. It was there about 2 weeks ago and now when I use my Easy CD Creator or WMP, it says that I do not have a supported recording device. When I go to the Manufacturers's website it just gives me an upgrade tool and the tool will not work. As I try to register the PCRW404, and I input ANY number that is on the device, it tells me that it is invalid. Therefore I cannot register the product with the manufacturer. It is a Philips PCRW404. Any suggestions?

It recognizes the drive but not as a CD-R/W. I can however use it with Nero.

    Thanks

You do not need any driver for CD burner in windows XP or vista

does the pc see the drive if not it's possible that you have the jumper in the wrong place on the drive

My CD/DVD burner isn't burning at the proper speed. I burned a disc that should have been 66:53, but it came out 66:38 (making the music a little bit fast). I did a burner test, with Exact Audio Copy and...

The speed is determined by the speed of the burner for the type of writable media (disk) you are using and the speed the writable media supports. (For example: I have CD-R disks from years ago that don't write as fast as the CD-R disks I purchased recently.)

The lowest of these two speeds is the max write speed.

Unfortunately, there is a ridiculously large number of disk writing standards which affect write speeds. Check this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CD_recorder

If this helps please vote for my solution.

TSST Corp CD/DVD RW TS-L632M ATA device wont play discs. Driver is current

I also have the TSST cd/dvd with the same problem but I just realized that is a comflict between all these programs I have installed (Windows Media Player, Sonic and Roxio Easy Creator 6). WMP will not even show it, then I went to Roxio audio central an it worked perfectly. I tried to change the default back to WMP but it wont take it. I believe this happens because Roxio was the last I installed and took control of the sound. Hope this help. I will be uninstalling my WMP and installing it again so that I can keep it as my first choice.

EZCD 5.0 and EZCD 6.0

I don't think that 6 and 5 are compatible 6 is an upgrade from 5. I have just 5 on one of my old XP computers and it works fine, but that's all I have. I went to the website and they are not giving any support for Roxio 6 anymore.
I will tell you that Roxio Easy Media Creator is fantastic. The things you can do with that are unbelieveable. I got it at Sam's Club for about $70. But I know that does not solve your problem.

Roxio 5
To burn data files, Open project selector, make a data cd, click data cd project. WhenEasy CD Creator 5 opens and you choose your files to burn, try this: Select Disc at Once Radio button, click okay and click burn.

OS: Issue When burning a CD or DVD, you receive an error, burning does not complete, or your media is rejected. Resolution Burning errors can happen for a variety of reasons. Roxio has found that doing the following steps resolves about 80% of all burning issues. Please give all these steps a try and see if it fixes your writing problems.

  1. Update your drive's firmware/drivers. Most companies regularly update their firmware and drivers. If you are unsure what model your burner is and its firmware, click here to find out.

  2. Enable DMA. Direct Memory Access enables better efficiency of data. For more info, check how to enable DMA.
  3. The media. Check the following:
    • The disc is clean and unused.
    • The media is recommended by your burner's manufacturer or try a different brand, preferably a name brand, if you continue to have problems.
    • Make sure that media (-R/+R, -/+RW, dual-layer compatibility) is supported by the burner by checking burner's manual or manufacturer's website. This is especially true for some Blu-Ray burners which do not support CD-R/RW media.

  4. If your burner is external, make sure it is connected directly to the computer via USB/Firewire and not a hub or other other device like a sound card.
  5. Update to the latest PX Engine. The PX Engine improves compatibility with newer burners on the market.
  6. A reinstall of the burner's drivers may also help.
    • Windows XP: Go to My Computer and choose Properties.
    • Windows Vista: Go to Start --> Control Panel --> System and Maintenance --> Device Manager.
    • Click on the Hardware tab.
    • Select Device Manager
    • Expand DVD/CD-ROM Drives, then select your burner and uninstall it by right -licking on it.
    • Reboot.

Issue Roxio does not recognize the blank CD/DVD media in the recorder drive.
Resolution Follow the listed procedure to ensure that the CD/DVD media you are using is supported by your CD/DVD Recorder.

On Easy CD and DVD Creator:

  1. Open Creator Classic.
    1. Launch Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator 6.
    2. Click on the Creator Classic icon.

  2. Check the supported media types.
    1. Click on Tools on the top left hand corner of the window, then select Drive Properties.
    2. Under the Devices section, click on your CD/DVD Recorder drive.
    3. Under Supported Media, click on down arrow to see a list of supported media your CD/DVD Recorder supports.
    4. Ensure that media type that you are using is listed here. If it is not listed then your CD/DVD Recorder does not support that type of media.

On Easy Media Creator:

  1. Launch Disc Information.
    1. Launch Roxio Creator Home menu.
    2. Click on the Tools tab, then select Disc Information.

  2. Check the supported media types.
    1. Under Supported Media, ensure the media type is listed.

I do know if you have Roxio5 you cannot installed Nero 6 InCD, not compatible. Other than all of the above, I have no more suggestions. I am really sorry, wish I could work on your computer to figure out the problem. This is my specialty. Reloading computer and figuring out problems. It is so much easier hands on.

Burner not rcognised

wmp is not a very good choice for burning disks, try nero alcohol 120%, goo media center, or roxio easy dvd creator, when you say it won't recognize the drive what exactly is the issue, what errors do you see, they are there for a reason, they provide information that can potentially solve the problem for you, also what operating system and the brand/model of the burner would be useful in trouble shooting the problem.
