Question about Philips 26PF5521D 26 in. HD-Ready LCD Television

1 Answer

Philips 26 I have a philips 26" LCD purchased last year. Recently my DVD player broke, which was ran through S-Video cable. When out purchased a new one which could only be hooked up by using the component AV's red blue green. Turned on DVD player and see light distortion with the picture on both the movie and intro screen. Tried several movies same results went out bought new cables same result. Tried different AV outputs same result. I am really puzzled, could this mean all of my AV outlets are bad and how and how much can something cost to get fixed?

There is an input imbalance. Either try connecting your cables to different inputs on your TV, or try connecting to different outputs on your DVD player. (Only worry about the yellow video cable bit initially). Alternatively, try a different cable type; you'll have some ins and outs that don't use RCA connectors.

Then look at the menu for your DVD. There might be a way of changing the output on (for example) AV1 to RGB or Composite. If not, there may be a similar option on the TV for changing the INCOMING signal type on, for example, the TV's AV1 input (or whatever). It's definitely an incompatible signal flowing down the cable, and it's got to be 'balanced' at the DVD or TV end by setting the spec. for the signal.

Sounds like one is not recognizing the other, By you not being to get into the set up menu means it is not seeing your blue ray player. Are you sure they are compatible? If so then if there is another way to hook it up, like with RCA cables then try that. Also make sure that there is not more than one S-video option on it.

Constant standby mode on philips DVD player

Hi Johnny
Please follow these steps (even if you are sure you have done them correctly :)
1) Check if something is blocking the path between the remote and the IR sensor on the DVD player.
2) Check your remote control batteries to make sure you have fresh batteries inside(try with new ones to be sure)
3) Make sure that you have inserted the batteries according to the polarity that is instructed.
4) Remove all the cables but the power supply and try to see if it works. If it does you have some faulty cable which should be replaced.
5) At last if none of the above points helps then either your DVD equipment or the remote control is faulty. You may contact your vendor demanding you guaranty wright or a service shop for diagnose and repair.
Finally , please don't forget to rate my post.
Wish you best of luck.
Best Regards

Connecting samsung dvd to Philips 47PFL6704D LCD TV

Hook up your cables from your DVD player to these input on the back of your TV. 6131e0b.jpg The group of ports should be labeled as video 1 input. Use the Yellow, Red and White on the back of both DVD Player and TV. Then, change the input on the TV remote to input or video 1 to watch the DVD Player.

Broken lcd screen - PET704

You will find it is better to buy a new player. The cost of the part and repair will be about the same or more. You can still use the player with the a/v output to another monitor or television. Just use the supplied cables or purchase some for the connections. I hope this information helps you with your problem.
